it was fluid build up after an LP shunt was placed ... that shunt gave me HELL! and ended up breaking on the side that went into my spine. The broken catheter was up near my brain. I had it replaced Sep 3rd, revised the 21st ... and again november 9th. the tubing or the "stitch" my surgeon used caused me pain. he ended up stitching the catheter to the falciform ligament which holds up the liver and the second I woke up from that surgery pain on the side of the catheter was zero.
MOST people apparently experience zero symptoms with these benign, spaghetti noodle like catheters. I was told I am hypersensitive (which scares me about my new dura patch ...... I didnt even think of the silicone causing me issues) but I had a great general surgeon (Dr Todd Wilson in Houston TX, who should get a medal or something for having me as a patient, and sticking with me until the end of my shunt ordeal)
