One of the most effective ways to lower rising blood sugar levels is to shed excess weight. And that doesn’t necessarily mean drastic weight loss, either. A 2002 study showed that losing 7 percent of your total body weight (10 to 15 pounds if you weigh between 150 and 200 pounds) combined with exercising 150 minutes each week lowered the risk of developing diabetes by almost 60 percent!
