MYTH: Infertility Is a Female Problem

Because a woman carries an unborn child in her body for 9 months, it may seem like she bears more responsibility for becoming pregnant. But the truth is, approximately 1/3 of fertility issues stem from a cause related to the man, 1/3 arise from the woman, and the remaining 1/3 are due to issues in both the man and womanMale fertility problems may be the result of a low sperm count, slow mobility of sperm, or abnormal size and shape of sperm. If you’ve been trying to conceive for a year with no luck, it’s important that both of you see a reproductive endocrinologist to try to pinpoint the issue.
