I can appreciate your doubts. Doctors, like everyone else, fall in love with their theories.

Wasn't a study. He uses it to diagnose and treat.  I've read some of his book.  have my doubts on the scans.

If his is the only work on this subject it would be interesting to know what percentage of children chosen randomly for the study proved positive for ADHD. If the numbers are out of line, especially if they are very high, I would questiont his conclusions.

Well,"Daniel G. Amen, M.D. Using a nuclear medicine technique called "single photon emission computed tomography" (SPECT)--a controversial step, according to some of his peers?"
Certainly believes you can using his method.  He has a book about this called - Healing ADD: The Breakthrough Program That Allows You to See and Heal the 6 Types of ADD [Paperback].
I am not sure a simple MRI would work.  No reference points, lots or radiation, etc.
Kind of curious why you are asking?
