Adderall - Misdiagnosed?

Hello! I've recently started taking 10mg a day of Adderall. My doc thought I had bi-polar but now seems to think it's ADHD. I'm 30 years old.

My question is: Have any of you experienced extreme muscle tension? Jaw, neck, upper back, etc... It's only happened once (I took it about 5 hours after I normally take it) and also felt really neurotic and a bit crazy.  Do you think this is a sign I've been misdiagnosed?

I'm a concert pianist, and it's really helped me be able to focus on my practicing, especially in the afternoons without getting distracted every 20 seconds! I have extreme difficulty in focusing. I feel like it's generally helped me. But I don't want to be taking this every day if it will have long term bad effects.

Thanks!

I disagree with everyone on here.  A stimulant causes an effect on the central nervous system, so It is normal to feel some muscle tension, headaches.  A lot of side effects will shake out after 4 days or so, so if it is working for you, maybe just some Tylenol. As far as side effects go, that does not seem too bad!  Best of luck. (Yes, I take Adderall as well)

There are many people who are misdiagnosised .And like said already Adderall is just like speed. And can cause very bad side effects, like Seizures.I am not a Doctor but it sounds like you might of had a Seizure witch can happen from taken these drugs they use along with other very bad side effects.

Try taken Vitamin B6 and B12 and Omega 3-6-9 every day and see if that helps you in time to be able to do things better. These don't have all the very bad side effects that the drugs they use for adhd or even bipolar.

if you stay taken them or notice that the same things happen again have your doctor send you to get a EEG done to make sure everything is normal with your brian. And if you are not sure about wheather you are having any kind of a seizure there are viedos on youtube you can watch.

I have seen several posts from adults who only use the medication on an "as needed" basis. (sometimes only1 or 2 times a week). This way they also don't start building up a resistance and needing higher and higher doses.
I have not heard of it causing the muscle tension.  On the other hand, if it was acting more like "speed" and causing you to practice way more then you normally would and at a faster pace, etc - than you might experience those symptoms due to the change in your practice routine.  And if that's the case, then it could be a misdiagnosis.
   Hope this helps.

What you should know is that Adderall is speed, and it is addictive. If it revved you up (is that what you meant by "crazy"?) you should not be taking it. That is not the effect it has on someone with ADD.
