Insurance stopped covering Vyvanse after dose increase?

So, I'm 18 and take Vyvanse that is prescribed by a psychiatrist for ADHD. Without the medication, I struggle a lot in school and have nearly failed classes in the past even though when I'm on the medication I do extremely well in school. I've had no issues getting my prescription increased, filled, and covered by insurance until now. After my last appointment, my psychiatrist increased the dose to 50mg from 40mg. The pharmacy told me that she would need to fill out some additional paperwork to verify the validity of the prescription (as it is a controlled substance) but they've never had to do this any of the other times my prescription was increased. If the paperwork simply hadn't been filled out yet, that could be the answer to this problem. However, the paperwork has been filled out and my insurance company has said they will not cover my Vyvanse prescription and to pick up my prescription would cost $300 for a 30 day supply. I still have some leftover caps from past prescriptions so I'm not totally without it (at least for the next few weeks) but I'm wondering if it's normal for an insurance company to stop covering a prescription for seemingly no reason? In the meantime, what exactly am I supposed to do (especially when my leftover doses run out)?

That is really weird.  Sounds like it might be paper work related?  Or something that your pharmacy screwed up.  Your psyc or his office workers might be able to give you some guidance.
You might want to just get permission to refill your old one and see if that goes through with no problem.   Then you could use that until this is figured out.
But ya, it makes no sense.  Something changed.
