I have to agree with what Dede116 said. Please do not put your children on any medicine for ADHD. The side effects are very bad.
My son now has seizures after being on two different medicines .And cant learn. He just had surgery last week to try help his seizures ,because all the medicines we have tried to use are not working and he is still taken them twice a day and may take time to see if the surgery is going to help him. My son is ten and acts like he is 4 to 5 years old and other children don't know how to act around him and some have been very mean,
I only wish I had never put him on any Medicines in the first place, but not to late to safe someone eles from making the same mistake as we did .
Do not medicate your child! You will regret the long term effects.

I have a 17 and 18 year old that started taking meds at 6 years old and the long term effects are devastating. They act like they are autistic since being off the meds for nearly a year. It's almost like they are mentally 10-12 year olds. They talk about things that happened in the past like it happened yesterday. It's like they can't mentally move past a certain point in there lives.
ADHD is genetic so it is possible that all could have it, but it's also possible that they don't. Boys tend to get diagnosed sooner then girls. If the child is smart and not a discipline problem, it may not be noticed until math becomes a problem - usually around the end of 4th and about the middle of 5th grade.
