OK I talked with MedHelp.
They are very sorry for any ads appearing that may affect our members' sobriety. In order to remove these ads, they need a list of the ads for addictive medication and their address links ... If you tell Sara or myself where you see them (if they are any type of addictive substance) MedHelp will try to replace these ads with new ones in our forums ASAP. They want to keep our Addiction communities a safe place for all.
I have a add blocker and do not see these.. I'm grateful. lesa
I not saying it's really horrible, but they are preying on a weakness. I'm not talking about narcotics per se but the fact that drug addicts, especially Rx drug addicts like me (used to be), are hard wired to look for a drug or medicine for most problems and the "marketers" target us in this way. As always, my opinions are not always facts.
well, I know it makes it kinda hard, and prob extremily rough for people when they first get here, however i am sure its how they fund the site and allow us to use it for no cost. I have never seen a ad for a narcotic or anything so thats prob the way they justify it also. I do know the ads can be annoying, the other day one keep following my pointer around and i couldnt click on anything without it takin me to the ad, i had to log off and back on.
I will do some checking on this......sara
i agree, this is pretty rediculous and it should'nt be happining on a substance abuse forum!
I know all sites have to generate income but this is going against some principles I feel. They know (the powers that be), that we are a people that look for drug solutions to all problems and are taking advantage of it too much maybe. I've been on this site for years for different things and thought it the the best of it's kind, until now.
I have noticed the same thing lately......
