Sometimes Dr.'s now check for the drug in your system to make sure you are not selling it and you are actually taking it. Maybe that is why he wouldnt give it? I know people who sell their scripts but always keep a couple of pills so when the Dr. checks they have it in their system.
I was taking a pretty good amount of oxy and vic's.....and yep, I'm having withdrawal. lost it last night, big time, almost went to the hospital...... day 2 of skelaxin, didn't really notice anything with this pill.....didn't even help with the pain.....but oh, the wonderful doctor is doing a block on my back and that is the answer to everythings, so he says.ha......yes, it's real expensive. over rated I would say, so far I haven't had a bad taste of metallic in my mouth.......guess I'm too ittsy to notice right now. he put me on this pill because he found no trace of vicodine in my urine??????????????? can't believe that,,,,,,I take more than I'm suppose too........4 a day, and was doubling that.....and it didn't show in my urine.........so zap. no more pills for me, just live with it......thanks for your responce Ga Guy
What do you mean he didn't find it in your urine?? and why would he not give it to you if he didn't find it?? that is crazy to me...explain

I think that's the same as flexeril/cyclobenzaprine. If so, then no, I wouldn't think it would be addictive. It makes me stupid as heck for a day or so though.
I've used skelaxin. It's expensive as heck and didn't help me much. I did notice a metallic, copper taste in my mouth after taking it (this is a common side effect-not as bad as Lunesta, though yuck), so don't be alarmed if you get the funny taste. How much vicodin and oxy are you taking daily? Skelaxin is not even close to these two drugs as far as pharmacology. If you're taking moderate to high amounts of vics and oxy, and replace it with skelaxin, you're gonna have withdrawal symptoms.
As far as I know, Skelaxin is not addictive. It doesn't make me feel anything when I take it, but I use it occasionally at night, to relax my jaw so I don't clench so hard. It's marketed that it's a muscle relaxer that doesn't mess up your central nervous system, and make you loopy. Since it's a muscle relaxer, I don't know why it would be substituting the narcotics...but I'm sure your doctor is trying to veer you off narcotics, and find another narcotic free way of treating your pain, whatever that may be.
