Hi there & welcome! A Big HI Five & Smile to you on Day 5(!) YES! You're doing it!!

I know that the lack of sleep & energy are rough, rough, rough but you're almost over the hump, now. Unfortunately, the two symptoms you mention tend to be the last to go for most of us. Try to be patient with the healing process. A month or so isn't too much to ask when you compare it to your length of usage. We've done our body/mind system an injury & the simple fact of the matter is that it takes time for it  to heal. A positive attitude & willingness to accept what detox entails is key in punching through this. You ABSOLUTELY CAN do this! (When it comes down to it, we're actually much stronger than we realize.) I promise you that it does get easier by degrees & that you'll feel so much better about yourself & your life if you stick with this!

Re: the natural meds -- (& I'm a big fan of Alt. medicine) -- I'd tell you that the more time you put between you & your DOC's the more effective these remedies will be. I'd try liquid plant-based Melatonin (taken only @ night -- doesn't work in the daytime because of the blue light spectrum.) I'd also suggest a liquid plant-based Vitamin/Mineral supplement (Garden of Life makes a good one.) Liquid essential amino acids also help.

Key things that will really help include: Proper hydration (@ least 2 to 3 liters of plain water per day), eating an unprocessed diet with lean protein, lots of veggies, nuts & fruits & Exercise (as my friend ariley13, above, suggested.) Try to stay away from caffeine, sugar & fried foods. If you're a music fan, put those headphones on! (helps fire the endorphins & distracts you from your symptoms.) When you can't sleep, don't struggle with it. Instead, try to decouple from your symptoms by staying busy. Do something you enjoy instead.

I'm so glad to hear that you're using the site & that it's been helping you. (I know that I couldn't have made it this far without MH & the wonderful people here!) So, please, when you're feeling on the edge or just want to talk/vent, post for support. You're doing a wonderful job! Hold Fast! We're here.

Lack of sleep and anxiety (which leads to more sleeplessness!) are 2 of the most annoying detox symptoms. And they tend to linger longer than all the other symptoms. The thing that will help you the most is to relax as much as possible. (I know, easier said than done!) Stay as busy as you can during the day. Go for as many walks as you can stand. Clean your house. Watch something funny on TV or Youtube clips. Read success stories or chat on this site. Anything to keep you from dwelling on how bad you feel or might feel when you try to lie down. Take a hot bath right before bed. Try the Melatonin roysgirl suggested. It really can help. If that doesn't help you can also try Valerian Root or Passion Flower. They all promote restful sleep and a reduction in anxiety. The Valerian Root can be rough on your liver, so don't overdo it, or take it if you have pre existing liver issues. Another thing that helps is cutting out any and all caffeine and if you are a smoker, no smoking within a couple hours of bedtime. The sleep stuff should let up very soon and keep getting better and better until you find you're getting a full night's sleep. Good luck to you! I hope you can get some relief and much needed rest very soon!

Yes I have completely stopped taking the Vicodin and Tramadol but I wouldn't have been able to do it without the help of reading the posts of other members here stating its do able, I even got a few hours sleep last night I think mostly from sheer exhaustion, but today I feel I can do this the WD symptoms are less severe.

I won't lie to you: detox isn't the easiest thing, nor is it fun but for ME the FEAR of it was Way worse. Not sleeping is an issue that alot of people have. What I have found to help me is A VERY HOT bubble bath and melatonin before bed. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU on deciding to take your life back! Have u completely stopped taking them?

I won't lie, Sue, the sleep thing is tough.  am I right in deducing that you are off the Vicodin completely and now clean from Trams ... I'm having trouble deciphering which day your on and if your free of pills ... anyway that's a long time on Vicodin and from what I know the Trams are super difficult to quit.  it's late and there aren't too many ppl on right now, but hang out and you'll get more responses.  there are some ppl here who know a lot about Trams. be strong!  you can do this!!!
