5 days off Vicodin and intro

Hi Everyone. Boy am I glad I found this site today. I've been detoxing off Vicodin for the past five days by myself and taking care of my two young daughters because my husband is away. I have lost count as to how many times I've had to do this, but it's always painful and depressing.

I've been addicted for 5 years, but it didn't really kick in until two years ago when I threw my neck out, that's when I started taking them when I felt like it, not as prescribed. I still had it under "control" and didn't freak when I ran out, didn't worry I wouldn't be able to get more, but underneath all that I knew what was coming. And here I am again. I wish I could get to a meeting but unfortunately I haven't been able to get a sitter at that particular time.

I am also battling Fibromyalsia which causes chronic pain, muscle spasms, etc. (that's where the neck thing came from) and scared to death of not having something a little stronger than an asprin to get me through my flares. But I have an addictive personality and if they're in the house I'll take them.

That's just the beginning of my story, I don't want to introduce myself with a novel, lol. I'll add more as time goes by.

Anyway, reading this board today helped a lot, gave me faith, made me pray.

My name is Jen and I'm an addict. Thank you all.

I'm also really new to this forum.
Well, somewhat. I found it last year, in February 06, when I first quit opiates cold turkey. At that time I went to AA daily and meetings helped me so much. Then, I stopped going to meeting... slowly, after more than 90 days, went back to pot and an occasional drink, and now I am facing day 2 of no opiates.
Day 5 is a big one. You get past the first few, and before you know it you're into day 14, and then you get a month. It will happen if you put your mind to it.
Tell everyone you know you can trust to tell.
Try to make meetings.
I can't really do either. I'm just taking klonopin (I have a legit rx for it, the narcs I've been buying for about 2-4 months now.) I'm using Lunesta to sleep - again, a legit rx.
Potassium is good for restless leg - they make vitamin water that's really high in it. Bananas help, too. Warm tea. Hot baths. Pamper as much as you can.
You can try to explain to your kids that "mommy's sick"
I wish you lots of luck.
I'm an addict too.
If you want to talk, my AIM and Yahoo is: okcookienc

Honestly, I don't know how I did it. Today was the first day I didn't cry every half an hour. I broke down once when my kids were being kids and I realized I just didn't have the long fuse I usually do and instead of screaming, I cried. I have a legit script for Rozerem (hate ambien and lunesta) and I take 1mg of Clonopin for sleep. I still woke up in pain every hour or less, but I got some sleep. It's been easier for me to sleep in the afternoon for an hour or two and my kids have been great with that, just watching tv next to me.

This has also been going on for three months. I'll get a legit script for my Fibro for 100 5/500 and in a week they're gone. Then I go through this and 15 to 21 days later I call in a refill and the cycle starts again. I guess I'm done with it this time. I'm praying I am.

Thanks ok for your support. It means so much to me. I have yet to tell everyone that I fell off the wagon, they all think I've been clean since last April. Except my older brother, he's in AA and he always knows, always. Even though he's miles away and it's hard for us to get time to chat, he still knows when I'm using. lol.
