hi and welcome.
I am tapering xanax presently..i'm done to a .25 mg..I am doing a substitution. Thankfully I found an incredibly informative site so I want to share it with you. We are not allowed to put links on the public board so I am sending to your Inbox...check it out and let me know what you think.
Congrats on having the drive to get off the Xanax. It's completely normal to feel scared. It's kinda skydiving without knowing if your parachute is gonna open. Any change in med routines are bound to cause some emotional and physical discomfort. Do you have a seizure disorder that's being treated? Usually acute alcohol withdrawl is the only thing to cause seizures, not benzos. It's a good idea to stay closely connected with your doctors and express all of your concerns. Mobilize all the support you can and if you can, talk to close friends and family about your plans...and keep posting. You're on the right track.Well wishes to you!
HI I was also on 4mg of xanex and got weened off they dropped the xanex slowly to about 1/2 of the original dose then put me on the clonipine but at a small dose then slowly trasfered going down on the xanex a little every 2 weeks and up on the clonapine evey 2 weeks till I was on the clonipine then they ween mew off the clonipine they do it that way because the clonipine is a long lasting (12-18HR) so its ezer to come off of the whole process took around a yr to do it wasent comfortable but it was dsoable today I dont miss ether one im bipolar thats why I was on them in the first place now we handle it with non addictive meds and that has proved cotravrsal to me after coming off risperdal and going threw horrable withdrawals off a non addicting med
so much for what the doctor know any way you will be fine your probably not going to feel like yourself xanex hits its own brain receptor thats why my doctor did it 1/2 and 1/2 at first good luck and God bless.....Gnarly
Seizure are nothing to mess with. I'm a former REEGT, so I know. You need to see your doctor so you don't get thrown into seizures when you're withdrawing from the Xanax.
