Well - 1 more day before I start Suboxone

Well - here I am - only 1 more day before I start my suboxone detox.

I'm really nervous - but I know it is just a matter of time before I'm living opiate free!

I'm worried about how I'm going to feel on suboxone -- but even more so how I'm gonna feel when I stop. I plan on asking my Dr for a 3 week detox - then I'm going to take a vacation from work the week I stop suboxone. While I'm really worried about the WD's I may go through, I'm even more worried about what will happen to me if I don't stop. I'm up to taking 80Mg of Oxy when I wake up -- then another 80 over the next 8 hours.

Anyone have any encouraging news for my next few weeks?

From what i have read the sub should help with your detox from the oxy...i guess you will have to bite the bullet to detox from the sub....i tapered from hydrocodone and do not know how tapering from sub would be...I do know eventually you will have to wd to get clean...aftercare with meetings would be important so as not to relapse..and keep posting...many on here are tapering from sub or have in the past

I'm happy that it is working for you so far -- and yea, that's alot! I feel like I'm going to kill myself only taking 120 -- I can't imagine 360 -- it's good you got off them too!

I did try suboxone once before - but my Dr was a quack -- he made me tak 20mg of sub my first day -- I complained I was nauseous, so the next day he had me take 2 8mg in a row, then another 8mg 30 minutes later. I threw up right there in his office.

In the 20+ times I've gone cold turkey -- I have NEVER thrown up. Deathly ill, yes, but I have an iron stomache, and I know it was the sub that did it.

Since I had my Rx of sub, and never got a schedule from him, I tried to taper myself and essentially it didn't work (I had no clue how to do it).

That was 1 year ago -- I've relapsed 5x since then -- 4 of them only minor binges, like 1 week, then being clean for a month. As luck would have it, I had a major flare up around Thanksgiving - my Dr moved me from Vicodin to Oxycontin -- in 5 months I moved from 20mg a day to 160mg -- my Dr only thinks I'm at 80mg (imagine his surprise on Friday heh).

Another problem I remember, is being wired on suboxone - I couldn't sleep at all, but my Dr also told me no Ambien -- I'm hoping my current Dr will give me permission (I've read that it is ok??). I'm also going to ask for a small amount of clonidine.

With as many relapses I've had, you would think I would have learned by now -- I guess I love punishment. The nice thing is, come Friday, I'm cutting my 2 sources.

Wish me luck -- and I wish you all the same!

Hi.  I have a long history of Lortab abuse.  I started Suboxone treatment today and this time I have been using for about 6 months.  The last 4 months or so, I have been taking approximately 36 Lortab 10 a day (that's about 360 mgs. of hydrocodone a day).  The Dr. put me on an 11 day protocol.  This is what I'm doing:

Day 1 (Today) - 8 mg. and another 4 mg. to take this evening if needed (so far I have not felt like I needed it)
Day 2 - 4 mg. in the morning and 4 mg. in the afternoon
Day 3 -  "    "
Day 4 -  "    "
Day 5 - 2 mg. in the morning and 2 mg. in the afternoon
Day 6 - "    "
Day 7 - "    "
Day 8 - "    "
Day 9 - 1 mg. in the morning and 1 mg. in the afternoon
Day 10 - "     "
Day 11 - "     "

I, too, was very apprehensive about getting on Suboxone.  I was scared of how it would make me feel.  And, more than that, I was scared it really wouldn't work.  Within 30 minutes of taking it, all of my withdrawal symptoms, including the stomach cramps and diarrhea disappeared.  I haven't felt the least bit high or strung out...Just normal.

I'm so glad I decided to go this route.  I really can't believe that I'm fine.  Good luck with the Suboxone tomorrow and please get on here and let everyone know how it goes for you.
