Heroin

If anyone is still out there, I have a question, my boyfriend has a heroin addiction that I just found out about three months ago. He's been dealing with the addiction for about 3 or 4 years now. We've only been together for almost a year, and when I found out about it I gave him a ultimatum that he either goes to rehab and clean up his act, or I'm gone. Shortly after my ultimatum he was arrested for possession of crack (which is what he sold to buy the heroin), he was then put on an intensive probation program in which he had to take a drug test twice a week. Somehow I allowed him to convince me that taking drug test every week was what was going to help him get clean, and I didn't push the rehab ultimatum anymore. After about a good month in a half of being clean one day he just stop going to take the drug tests, but he kept on telling me he wasn't using drugs; he was still clean. My question is this in my heart I know he's using again, but I'm not 100% sure. When he leaves in the morning and comes back home one or two in the morning his mouth is dry, he doesn't have an appetite, he talks excessively, and has trouble sleeping at night. So are these symptoms of heroin use and if not what are the symptoms.

I'm not sure what's meant by 'eating' xanax but it seems he may have gone from kicking one addiction to ending up in other addictions using various drugs of choice.   Weed,  xanax along with the suboxone or anything else he hides from you.

I have a question about this too.

I am met guy in april.  he told me he smoked pot, i dont but didnt mind.

in sept, he told me he has been clean of Heroine for 5 yrs.  hes just 30 yrs old.  he sees counselor weekly.  he has tight, wonderful, strong family...he is on zoloft for depression and suboxone (sp) for heroine.  I read about it and its used to give the brain some chemicals similar to heroine, but not the same.  If he were to ever use heroine again, he would get sick I guess...

anyway, he smokes pot everyday, takes zoloft everyday and takes suboxone everyday.  on occasion he "eats pills like xanax"

Questions:
If a man is recovered Heroine for 5 yrs, whats likelihood hes done for good?
Does anyone ever really recover and totally quit heroine or is just a matter of time till they do it again?

Do I need to worry about the pot smoking?

He doesnt drink at all, not an issue.

What about eating couple of xanax every month or so to zone out?

I have told him I know plenty of CEOs. and ppl who smoke pot, so tht doesnt concern me.  Ive said Im so proud he has been clean of Heroine for 5 yrs...I also said, pill eating scares me to death and I am fearful he will overdose and not wake up...

help?

This guy is setting you up for a life of this. He won't get help unless he hits rock bottom and HE wants it. He will not do it for you. My suggestion is to get out now. You can always attempt to reconcile with some counseling if and when he hits bottom and gets clean. It definitely sounds like he's back using something.

wow he's lucky to not have anyone looking for him because most of the time ,where i live they send the task force out and when they see you on the street they snatch you up. So give it time something will happen no one has that much luck..I hope you don't get caught in the crossfire so to speak. When you use heroin you get a little more animated for a while unless your doin enough to make you go on the nod. He may not be doin that much dope, or could be speedballs I don't know but the probation thing will definitely cause problems for him if not now sometime almost guaranteed. Unless they have cut him loose..a-wakan

He actually got arrested for possession of crack twice once in Feb. and again in May of this year. Okay the second time he got arrested which was in May he got out of jail free without paying his bond because he join the intensive probation program (in which he had to take drug test every week and had a crufew) however the first time he was arrested for crack which was in Feb. he called his lawyer to come get him out of jail so he got out that time on an R.O.R bond. Okay when he went to court for his arraignment for the Feb. crack charge (which was after he joined the probation program) the judge looked at his paperwork and realized he got out of jail on an R.O.R. bond (aka for free) didn't like that and sent him back to jail and set him another bond, so I called his parole officer and let her know he got put in jail. After he finally got out he just never got in contact with her and he never went back to finish taking his drug test. So I don't know if she still thinks he's in jail or what, but she hasn't put a warrant out for his arrest yet because he got stopped by the police the other night and they ran his name and found nothing.
