Sounds like an awesome story, but be very careful talking about what it's about in details. You never know if some selfish person will steal your idea...believe me I had to learn that the hard way....I could have been very rich by now if I had kept my mouth shut a few times..
Is that cute bulldog yours on your profile (I went to UGA ya know..home of the most famous school mascot UGA the bulldawg)...or is symbolism for you..."Beachtowel...the little bulldog"
yes the statue of limittations is gone except for murder that is for life..........it has no statue......
Hey I'm writing, too. This is neat about all of the writers on here. I've had to put mine on hold for awhile. But..just as a brief overview..it's about a white boy and black girl that grow up in the slave state of Georgia. The boy goes on to become an accomplished lawyer. The girl becomes a midwife after gaining her freedom. The girl is brought up on trial for murder after the baby of a white woman is still born. The boy takes the girls case and wins, even against an all white jury. He's then lynched outside the courthouse. The real best part of the story happens to the girl after the lynching. For that tad bit of information, you shall have to buy the book one day:)
There should be a statue of limitations on most of that legal stuff right?? Check and put in what you can no longer be convicted of..LOL
As for your worrying about prosecution, there are ways of speaking of things without giving enough detail to get into trouble (like exact names of people, places, or things). I'm pretty sure you never murdered anyone so it should be alright. Ever read anything by Hunter S. Thompson, such as Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas? All of that is true and nothing ever happened to him.
To answer your other question, yes I'm working on a book now...well I'm always working on something...but this one is my baby that I have been writing for the past few years now. I'm an English Major (Sigma Kappa Delta Baby!), studying to be an English teacher while still writing on the side. I write everything from poetry, to fiction, and a ton of non-fiction things. I've been published in a few forms (nothing major), some small literary journals for my school, write for our campus newspaper, and have contributed to many political essays put together by a sociology professor/friend of mine. I hope to one day publish the book I'm now working on....but like most artists I struggle with constantly thinking what I create is horrible, and I'm really critical of myself. But I enjoy writing and thats the important thing..
