hey people:
barbs??!! been there....very, very bad news...the worst part was
trying to explain those rug burns on your face...of course i really
hated myself but good back in in 1974....i thought if i kept my a-
buse irregular i wouldn't get addicted...then i lost a couple of
weeks to a vial of injectable pentabarb the size of a moonshiners
"little brown jug."
get a doctor in on this one...even if it means signing over your
freedom temporarily. i'm not kidding around here. if you don't kill
your self using this evil family of drugs, then w/d from it will
get you.
i've seen rare instances of people detoxing good friends using 1/4 grain (15 mg) tablets of pheno-barb, and taking the dose down real slow. i wouldn't suggest it outside of a hospital where the patient signed his/her owm commitment papers.
i went the hospital route and still wound up having real bad con- vulsions. after that i had an intresting malady nicknamed "word
salad" for the next 10 days. i could get every word i wanted to
say out, but not in the right order. the harder i would try the
more scrambled up it would become. but i did live through it and
not to much permanent brain damage at that! I COULD NOT HAVE DONE
THIS ON MY OWN...NOT EVEN WITH THE HELP OF FRIENDS1!
take from an old fart that's been there and get yourself commited
to a lock down detox ward on this one. you can hate me or anyone
else you want to while they detox you. when you come out the
"other side" you will have something to be truly thankfull for...
your sanity and soul!!
contrary to popular belief, barb w/d is much worse than benzo w/d
(and benzo's are real bad news). do yourself the first act of
self love in a long time and get a doc and hospital on this one!
keep posting and keep an angel on your shoulder

Hi Connie,
I wish I knew the specific answers to your question. There used to be a poster here who knew a lot about how to recover from barbituates, so if those posts are still in the archives, you might find that information by doing an archive search.
Thomas, do you know much about this?
I want to give you support and help, but I know very little about how to safely withdraw from barbituates. I have read that with benzos, a slow and stable taper is best, decreasing the dose by a small cut each week. It might be the same for fiorinal, but hopefully someone else here might know.
love,
WW
