I am posting about my experience with suboxne as this is a sub thread. Suboxne can be a very helpful drug in getting off of opiates but it stills has plently of cons as well. It is good to know all the pros and cons perhaps some day you will have experience with sub and understand the pros and cons

I know more then two people  I know hundreds of people and I never said the people I knew who got of oxys with meth was my room mate. you dont read my posts. The couple I know who got off oxys by another drug which is sub were my roommates. again these threads are not about methadone and they are about sub. that is why I am sharing my experience with sub not my experience with methadone. And thank you wait to long for admitting that even through sub can help people greatly it is still highly addictive and can cause severe depression when coming off. wait 2 long if u want 2 talk about methadone so bad their are other threads for that. This thread is about suboxne and peoples experience with suboxne so when you have some experience maybe you might post it.

This topic is about sub. This is not a contest about what drug has the worst depression as you keep trying to make it out to be. Coming off of sub no matter what you compare it to can have vert severe and long lasting depression when anyone gets off sub. You have not yet come off sub therefore have no personal experience. I lived with two roomates who came off sub and yes sub worked well in getting them off their previous opiate but caused very severe depression afterwards which from my personal experience anyone coming off of sub should talk to their DOCTOR about anti depressent pills since the depression caused by sub is very severe and may be long lasting dependiing on the person no matter how slow you taper. This is not a big deal just a con of sub and something to be aware of.

i will have to agree with you on that one...methadone is definatly  more addictive than suboxone...thats why i was switched also...

depression is a VERY common symptom of coming off ANY drug...with methadone being the longest and worst...

Everyone should remember when talking about personal experience that each person is different. 2 different people can be on the exact same pills and the exact same doses and have totally different experiences when coming off. This is why for some cold turkey is best, for other, suboxne is best for others methadone is best. for some using a diferent pill to get off their current opiate for short term use is best, another person may need to stay on the pill thats getting them off long term. It just depends on each individual. I have seen people take ub how they want ignoring their docs instructions and get off of sub easily and with almost no withdrawals at all and I have seen people try to get off sub following their docs instructions to a t and can not because the withdrawals and the depression is to horrible for them and much worse coming off then their previous opiate It is good to tell people about your personal experience but everyone is different. What you may tell someone to do or give advice about may work perfect and great for one person but may not work at all or work horribly for another and vise versa. Everyone should read and listen to what we all have to say but in the end must go with what they feel is the best route for them individually and may have to try a number of different things. or go to more then one doctor.

Of course you were on Sub for 5 years so it may seem like it's just as addictive as Methadone... I still think that is crazy.

I'm speaking from personal experience....Suboxone is not nearly as addictive as methadone.....no where even close....get more opinions and I'm sure others will say the same. In fact...ask a doctor and hell say the same as well....thats why i was switched to Sub from meth....because my doctor wanted me on something less addictive....i don't know how you got the idea that it was otherwise.

Suboxone is everybit as addicting as methadone, maybe you dont get the intence feelings as methadone but when you try tapering the symptoms are everybit as intence as methadone.  How long have you been on it??  I would love to come off but the withdraw ALWAYS put me back on the couch and I certianly cannot work and support my family from there.  Please reply.     Bolpak

Suboxone is a partial opiate antagonist meant for drug treatment. It is not meant to take for long periods of time, but has proven to be successful in the treatment for opiate Dependant patients. It consists of two drugs. Buprenorphine and Naloxone. The Buprinorphine is an opiate and helps to prevent withdrawals and Naloxone is there so that the drug cannot be abused in anyway....Naloxone blocks out the affects of other opiate pain killers so your craving for them diminishes. If someone tried to abuse Suboxone they would go into immediate withdrawal and become very sick.  So it has a great success rate for weaning people off opiate pain killers and ultimately keeping then off any opiates. It is much safer than Methadone when taken for opiate dependence....it's not nearly as addictive as methadone and you don't get the euphoric feelings that methadone can give you thus cutting down it's potential for abuse by half or more....Hope I was able to help...I wish the best for your father and you...peace and love!

Be proud of your dad for trying to be clean.  DO NOT TAKE THEM YOURSELF!! you will vomit uncontrolable and probably wind up in the hosp.  just to let you know.  they are verrry strong.  If you havent told him you noticed them, let him know that your proud he's on them and not something worse. good luck                                                                             Painterbob

yes it is a good thing he has suboxone instead of vics, it means he is trying to get clean, you should be very proud and happy for him that he has made this decision.
