HI..........I deal with bipolar disorder and was able to get off methadone Vicki is right a long slow taper is best I tryed to speed it up and payed fro it with withdrawals threwout my taper I tapered off 150mg in 8 1/2 mo thats about 1/2 the time they recomend go slow it ant worth the agony what dose are you at now??? and are you on meds for your anxiety and depression now?? if not get to a phyic dr and start there then taper off you will need the med to keep the anxiety and depression in check wile tapering you can do this with stuff like that it just makes it a little harder is all if I could break free anyone can keep posting start your taper and will see what happens good luck and God bless......Gnarly
Hi! I'm sorry your post was overlooked! Can you ask at the clinic if they could begin to taper you off? That's the secret: A long,slow taper in small amounts of the drug. I don't know how much you take but if you stopped before at a high dose, I'm sure it was pretty unpleasant.
That's all I can offer at this time. Are you seeing a doctor for the anxiety and depression?
Often, we abuse substances because of another issue like depression,unhappiness,and anxiety. If you can get to the heart of those matters while you're tapering off the Methadone, you will come a long way in feeling better!
