The hardest thing I have ever done!

I cant believe how hard it is to quit taking these damn pills.  I have been trying to stop and have found out just how weak I actually am.  I have done better today...only 1 1/2 pills 5/500 hydro, down from 3 a day.  What amazes me the most is how my addiction can actually talk me into taking a pill.  "You really do hurt right now."  or "It's gonna be a stressful day today, take one now and get through the hard part."  What really pisses me off is I listen.

TOday my daughter told me she was having trouble in school and all I could think about was how I was gonna make it through today without a pill.  That is when it hit me...what a selfish ******* I really am.  I do have chronic pain and sometimes need the hydros as I am not able to take Ibuprofen or asprin due to a stomach condition.

I guess what really bothers me is these damn things take up almost every thought while I'm awake.  How long until my next pill?  SHould I take 2 pills this time?  I hate myself right now as I think about these pills more than I think about my kids.

THIS SUCKS!

funny thing is when i quit the pills MOST of my 'legitimate pain' went away, it took a while but now im living pain and discomfort and pill free.

our bodies and minds create reasons to take more.

keep going, its well worth it, but it is definately

the hardest thing ive ever done

100+ days clean, feeling good today :)

I hear ya. What makes it even worse,is the fact that we actually need the
pills for pain releif. Even though your not taking very much, compared to
most people. No offense,it still is very hard to taper or quit. The drugs
consume your every thought, taking away your ability to lead a productive
life. Always counting pills and trying to figure out if you will have enough to
last you before your next refill really gets old fast and is also very depressing.
Try and take care of your daughter and keep yourself occupied with things
to keep your mind off the pills. Beleive me,it's easier said than done, but it
really does help alot. Hang in there and make sure you take care of the
things that really matter in life, like your daughter. God Bless.
