Are "Energy" drinks ok during detox?

Hello everyone.
I am on day 28 of my opiate free life and yesterday I had my 1st big can of red bull, which I think gave me the energy to workout more which was great but I have heard conflicting reports about consuming these types of drinks during detoxing!
Can anyone shed any light on this for me please as I'm gonna have a workout in an hour and I'm unsure about quickly running to my local shop to quickly get one before I start.
Thank you.

I like that about them too Richard..I don't get jittery or shaky. It just gives me a little boost. I can't do more than one or two Monsters a day though! Too expensive...lol. And I just do the vitamin waters here n there also because I burnt myself out on them. I loved them so much when I first tried them and drank 2-3 a day. I think if you don't get anxiety or feel bad from them you should be ok. That's just my opinion though...I've never really viewed caffeine as a drug so maybe I'm opinionated in that aspect.

Hope you had a great workout!!

Thank you all for your feedback I really appreciate it,
I religiously drink 2-3 litres of water daily depending on if I was working out or not so I do keep well hydrated through the day.
Like right now I don't feel any need for a "boost" as I had to postpone my 6 mile cardio hike today due to crappy weather! Instead I've been wearing the carpet out in this room jumping around doing cardio but not at the same level as the hike would of done for me.
I think I will just limit it to 1 can if I feel cream crackered after a workout from now on!

Hi Richard-
I agree with what everyone has said - they can increase anxiety during detox, and dehydrate you, and can even become addicting.

But in moderation (key word MODERATION), IMO they are ok; I think it is just an individual preference and how your body reacts.  I have tried a few different ones (love that Monster Java Mocha too Sweetness!), and the energy/caffeine type too.  Once in awhile when I am really dragging, it's a quick boost to get me going.

You said you don't really get much other caffeine, right?  And, at almost a MONTH clean (yay you), you are probably fine with it.  I would just avoid it becoming a daily thing and make sure that you always drink a big glass of water after your workout.

5 cans of Monster or Rockstar everyday - probably NOT a good idea . . . LOL.  Your friend must be climbing the walls!!!!

Have a great weekend Richard!

Caffeine is a drug. No two ways about it. Folk tend to be pretty sensitive during PAWS. If you're hydrating the way you're supposed to w/o caffeine. You have to hydrate more because the E-drink is robbing you. They can be addictive. You'd get more healing and real energy from freshly juiced greens/with a little fruit but then I'm a purist. The important thing is that you're Tramadol/Codeine free and that you're doing so, so well --  really proud of you, btw! Looking forward to posting on your first month. Converting you body/mind and soul to the Alternative Medicine cause will come later (she said darkly.) All the best.

Everyone is different on how they metabolize anything put in the body, that's why we all had our own drug of choice.  I don't like being jittery, so I have never tried the energy drinks.  I bought a 5 hour energy months ago and it is still in my tote bag I carry to and from work.  LOL.  Sounds to me like you are staying plenty hydrated so I wouldn't worry about the occassional energy drink.  You aren't relying on them.  If you start to, then I would be concerned.

I know someone who has to have 5 cans of Monster or Rockstar everyday otherwise he's very jittery!
And it costs him £7 a day for the 5 cans!
My poison during my COD4 Xbox live days was just the Tramadols and not once did I care if someone ruined my kill streaks!
"I wonder why eh?"
No chance of addiction to the stuff though as I would rather spend 7 quid a day on Tuna fillets and fruit and veg! I think food is my new drug now!
Thank you for your reply needhelp144.

Thank you for your reply Sweetness91,
It is my 28th day clean today and I think I am drinking them because I deplete all my energy during training, I like you don't get a massive rush after drinking these drinks just an increase in my heart rate for a while that spurs me on to do more.
I don't drink coffee, have the occasional cup of tea! (come on,I'm British!)
So my caffeine levels aren't through the roof before I have an energy drink.
Richard.

I think it's different for everyone? I started drinking the energy drinks probably 35-45 days into detox and did ok with them...great in fact. For me, I felt like it helped me get "back" if you know what I mean. I mostly stick with the vitamin water and I absolutely love the Monster Java..(loca moca...mmmm!). I don't get a super rush off them or anything...I just feel better. So I have to say, if you drink them and feel like you're doing ok afterwards, then so be it...but if you drink them and feel like crap that's a sure sign that you should wait on those types of things. Only you know how you feel right? :)

Hiya Vickie
I did reply to your other post, the Internet connection in my parents home is rubbish! I'm sure they are still on "dial up" hehehe
I said in an earlier post I feel like that bloke in the film "Crank" and feel awesome if my heart rate is above the resting rate, it makes me workout harder and longer and more alert obviously.
I still drink 3 litres of water a day religiously so I keep well hydrated and have tried the vitamin waters but they instantly give me heartburn.
I've just had a cup of low caffeine tea with my pinky up and 3 boiled egg whites ready for my workout.
Not a big fan of green tea but it's payday so al grab a box later.
Cheers Vickie

Hi Ricard I see you started a new post..Go back to the old one and check out what I said...Tick Tick...180 days today...
When I was in my early state of detox I could not have any stimulants, no coffee, coke, any of it, no otc things nothing...Then when I got a bit better it was OK but all I did was go p***e every single min it seemd like..You need to stay hydrated and those things do  dehydrate you...The body is trying to heal...Every part of it from head to toe...Try the things that help put the electrolytes in the body and get them fired up...Ha!!! lol
vickie....Try a cup of green tea with the lil pinky finger up....
