Day 2, realization

So today is day 2 off oc, and although I am taking suboxone to get through the first week I feel pretty good, it's 5 and all I have had is a quarter of a suboxone.. I went out to breakfast and saw my dad before he went home (he lives in another state) when he left he said that I looked alive today, he has no idea that I have been battling this addiction for 6months.. It was a realization to me that even though I felt like I was myself I really wasn't... I then went home put in my new Taylor swift cd (I know lame) and started cleaning the house singing, laughing and crying all at the same time... I hope my desire to stay clean stays with me, and I hope I can stay as strong as I am now when I go off the subs (I will be tapering down and feel so withdrawals so far besides the intestinal stuff, minor aches, dehydration and depression) does anyone have any advice, I am feeling optimistic but j know this wi go in waves!

Thanks all, I am on day 4 and I havent even taken 2 Subs total this whole time,,, I took 1 mg this morning and tomorrow will be the first day I try to go with nothing! I have a lot of multivitamins and I have been drinking a lot of water and taking cranberry pills I think that helps a lot... I have been looking into NA meetings in my area and I am going to be off subs as soon as possible because it's not a long term solution to me, just something to aid the process!

Wolf is right, use the sub for no more then a week tops. It's a powerful med and is right up there with methadone in terms of the hell it is to get off of.

Check out the Thomas Recipe and read others posts on here. You can gain a lot of insight by reading other peoples experiences and not to mention tons of inspiration from those who have overcome this addiction.

I hope for your sake that this optimism will last!! And yes, it takes someone saying something to that effect to make us wake up and go 'ok, got it'...It does sound like you want to get and stay sober, and I'm happy for you that you didn't suffer physical wds because of the subs. But like Wolfmedicine said, you cannot rely on the subs alone. You need some type of other aftercare. Take it from me...I did the subs only route once. They made me feel balanced and back to my old self. Then I thought it was time to get off them so I did...then I relapsed when things started resurfacing that caused me to abuse narcotics in the first place. I know you may feel right now like you can tackle the world, but you can't do it alone. Research what may intrest you, whether that's meeting, a sponsor, therapy, etc. But it has to be something on top of the subs. In my opinion, I'd say try not to taper off to quickly until you have something else in the way of aftercare lined up.
I'm here a lot if you ever have any more questions about the subs or anything. We're all in this together, which is what I just wrote someone else...and I mean it. Again, I am hoping that the optimism stays and that you continue to 'look alive'... :)

Hiya,

Hang in there and you'll be fine.  If you want this, you WILL get there from here.  Please however do not rely on the Sub for help For more than a couple weeks.  Don't use it at all if possible.  It is way more evil than OC, Heroin etc.  It's comparable to Methadone.

I am 70+ days kicked from Sub and no Narcotics.  It was no fun.........

Best to Ya!
