MS Contin or Ultram

Im on MS Contin 60mg 3 times a day & percocet 7.5 4 times a day. I ran out so I started taking ultram is it less addictive? At one time my doc's tried to detox me I was on duragesic 75mg every other day, 40mg of oxy, & 6 norco a day. They put me in the hospital but as soon as I got out I was back on the norco. A couple months ago I was going to a few docs for scripts taking about 3 times that amount until I got a call from the
DEA. I plan on attending nursing school soon and I want to get of the ms contin how do you suggest I do this?
About 3 weeks ago I went off ms contin & percocet I couldn't eat every thing I ate I would vomit It made me so sick that I was admitted into the hospital for 3 days. Do you have any suggestions for any other pain control or detox. I have multiple ulcers & neurosarcoidosis in my right leg from ischial tuberosity to about mid calf when they did the biopsy they said my nerve looked like wood I also have it in my right median nerve at the carpal tunnel.

God, I really hate myself. I was on day two and couldn't stand it anymore. Called an old doctor and he came thru. Don't let anyone tell you you can't get hooked on ultram. I've been taking it everyday for over 4 yrs. and frequently for too many before that. I don't think I even want to get off them. Just it's getting harder to get and the cost is crazy. It costs me $159 for 180 and I've been refilling that every 12 days. Now my dr has cut me down to 180 a month. If I wasn't an old lady, I'd probably be working doctors or buying them off the street. Too old now to know who or where. And fortunantly my kids don't do drugs. Hard to believe as my ex and I have always been junkies. And I've got every excuse there is too.....well, this Sun. is easter and I've got a new grandson...gotta be "RIGHT" for that. And next mo. is his first birthday! Gotta be right for that! My son and his wife don't even know I'm an addict. They'd know if the saw me the last 2 days! Before I got a script tonight. They just had to see their dad go through awful oxycontin withdrawls. Anyone had experience getting off these? Over the last 30 yrs. or so I've gone through all kind of opiate withdrawls...you'd think I'd just do it. But of course I want the easy, painless as possible way out. Thanks for letting me vent.

Hi Jasmine .. I have found a solution to my problem !!
I have been prescribed Buprenorphine which i started 5 days ago and i have not had any ms contin since then, with asolutely NO withdrawal symptoms. My brother, who suffers from chronic pain and who was also abusing ms contin (he gets a script.. a 3 week supply for him would last us all of 3 days.. if we were lucky.. the rest of the time we were buying illegally) .. he started buprenorphine ( i think its buprenex in the usa) with me (we are sharing my script of 3 a day between us and that is more than enough) .. he has detoxed with no discomfort as well and tells me that the buprenorph kills his pain so he has no need for ms contin!!!! .. Jasmine, i was terrified of withdrawal, having done a day or so sometimes when i couldnt afford ms contin i was literally terrified of it ... but i can honestly say that i have not felt any discomfort at all and i am in day 5/6 now. ... i cant say enough positive things about this drug, it has been a lifesaver ... i hope you are doing better Jasmine, i'll drop by and see if you have posted .. if anyone wants to ask me re bupren stuff, my email is ***@****... good luck!!!!!

ZX24U2C--HI I just read what spondylolistheis is & it sounds like you have nerve pain just like me well if it doesn't bother you I would keep taking the pain  meds I have been taking them for severe sciatic nerve pain for about 3 years and I'm not ready to give them up. I wouldn't be able to fucntion because the pain is so bad (its like a long tumor going all the way down my entire leg) there are others meds that help w/nerve pain (if thats what you have) like neurontin, klonipin, and several other antideppresents. I tried neurontin the lowest dose well i couldn't even walk so be careful if you try it but most people can handle it well. if you havn't allready go to a pain specialist. they can help you in alot of different ways. I see one at a major university here and they have helped me alot. Well let me know how things go ok.

Deb66-- HI I have been taking high doses of pain meds for about 3 years now. The first 2 years I also felt suicidal if I thought I was going to run out. Well about a year ago I decided I didn't need them anymore and went into detox. After over a week in the nuero ward & about 10k. The day i got home I started taking them but since then I havn't been afraid to go off them I just would  get very sick. I started taking an antideppresent & it helps alot. Im still on alot of pain meds for my illness thats what got my hooked on the pain meds because I was only 22 when I was diagnosed with a really bad painfull disease. Do you have any pain & how did you get started taking ms contin. Did a dr prescribe it to you? Well let me know how you are. You also can talk to a dr about this & most will try to help you. Good luck!

Hi Jasmine - i am addicted to ms-contin as well, i have been taking 60-100mg per day for about 5 months now, i started to use them to alleviate terrible depression, they worked very well for a short time, but, now i am usually just as depressed even with the ms-contin and i have an addiction to battle as well!, what a mess i am in. I really, really want to get of the morph, but i am terrified that withdrawing cold will send me into a suicidal episode, at the moment, my depression is under control and i have no serious problems wih depression, but as i am not prescribed morph, i have to buy it illegally and that has worn out my finances, which, compunds the depression .. i really dont know where to begin to sort out my problems .. i guess i am hoping that a forum such as this, and hearing stories such as yours will help me to perhaps find both the motivation and the means to get my life straightened out ..good luck jasmine, i am looking forward to sharing more of your story .. There is a therapy that you can use to help yourself detox from this substance. The cost is about twenty dollars and you can find The Recipe at: http://pub37.ezboard.com/bthenewaddictionmedicineforum.
See you there. There's all sorts of support from people dealing with addiction to prescription medicine. It's really a great site, and you can come here, too. What could be better? The best of the best; the creme de la creme.

I can tell you from much experience that ULTRAM is VERY addictive. It works well for pain, though. If I had a choice between narcotics and Ultram, I'd take the ULTRAM simply because it is not a scheduled and highly controlled drug. But, like I said before-- ****WARNING**** ULTRAM IS VERY ADDICTIVE!!!
