It's got to happen now

I've been on SUB for 16 days... I already told the Dr. I had been abusive of this drug once, and now here I am with only a few 8mg pills left AGAIN!   I just can't have pills AT ALL!!!  I know now my addiction is mental mostly, but I'm scared to death of withdrawl from this cold turkey... Should I take some Vics knowing that the physical w/d from vics isn't that bad for me?   He said that the vicodin wouldn't do anything anyway...  I will get better I promise... I just am SCARED TO DEATH about sub w/d..   Any takers?  I know, I'm a mess....

Don't know if yall read my whole post or not, just wanted to make sure that yall knew I wasn't suggesting Kfred go on MMT. Just telling him that some clinics are now offering Sub as well, where you have to earn your take-homes. But actually, I happen to agree with you, avisg......if he's abusing his Suboxne, then there's no doubt that he'd abuse MMT. It's worked for me, but then again I KNEW that I was ready to do it right, and have done just that. Don't give up, Kfred. You can do this! Keep posting, sharing experiences, and asking advice. Eventually you'll find something that really suits your situation. Routes to recovery are like snowflakes....no two are the same! Much love to you! You're in my prayers.

DO NOT GO ON METHADONE  that is just going to be changing your drug of choice and this is why I say this because as you have said you are now abusing the sub like you abused you DOC its going to end up being a nasty cycle you don't want to continue to repeat .Yes sub can be abused .Do a quick taper off the sub and get into some meeting and therapy to deal with the big problem here which is the mental aspect of addiction there is not a pill out there that can help the mental part .If you want me to try to help you make up a quick taper I will

It is not uncommon for any pill addict to take more Sub than prescribed, I did it too.The thing is, if and when you do take vikes again, they will do nothing more than stop you from having the physical withdrawal effects. You should not take both the same day, but you can take one the day after the other with no problems, atleast I did.I know how much it ***** to be so consumed with pills, and it is really important for you to get counseling to work on the addictive nature you have.
Nobody can convince you to change the behavior, but you, and it is not something you can do all alone.I don't push NA or AA, but you should get involved with something!

Hey, you're no more of a mess than any of the rest of us! Everyone on here has been there. Can't see where you could be abusing Sub though...I was on it for a few months, and I did try to abuse it once (nobody's perfect), but I never felt anything. But then again, everyone's different. I wouldn't advise taking anything else because you'll be right back on the road that got you here! If the Sub works for you (as far as WD's are concerned) but you can't trust yourself with a take-home script, you might wanna check with the methadone clinics in your area and see if any of then have Suboxone. The one I used to go to had two types of Sub programs. One where you got a whole script at a time, just like going to a private doc; and another that was just like MMT, where you started of coming in everyday except Sunday to get your dose. The only advise I can give is that if you can't trust yourself to take your meds home, find SOMETHING different. I don't know where they are, but there's also some in-patient programs that use meds (methadone or suboxone) along with traditional "treatment center" tactics. Most of them are between 30 and 90 days. At a place like that you would be able to get some real life skills back before you'd be trusted with any medication. And hey, med-assisted thereapy might not be the route for you. You might be the type that needs abstinence. No matter what though, the current route isn't working because you've over-taken your meds, and you need to find something else. Best of luck to you! Keep posting, and venting your frustrations. Maybe someone on here will be able to help you! Peace, KLM
