Greatest Saleman in the World

I read this book many years ago and it was worth the time. I think I will order it again. The author is Og Mandino and it is not just a book about sales. It really helped me at a time when I was going through alot of pain.

Hi,
Maybe the demographics had changed today. I wish I could give you an honest answer as to where all the addicts over age 45 are. You are probably right, AA meetings. Members like you have a great message. I heard a member share once, he was a male about 60 years old. This he talked about some years back. And he works a solid program of recovery and has substantial clean time.
" I  felt awkward being my age sitting around all these young people." That day, 10 days ago, it was a Friday, he was sharing  how his usual Fridays were before that meeting. Which was dinner with other recovering addicts.
I am reluctant to say it from the lack of knowledge on this matter. But NA started around '54. So it is fairly new. You are one of the people who was able to stay clean by doing exactly what you said. GSR, secretary and of course working the steps and a solid program. I think a-lot of addicts did not live as long. This disease kills.
I have a feeling you are probably a bit stuck, for the lack of a better term, as to what do next.
I will tell you this. When I was in Tampa. I would say a large # of recovering addicts were females in to their late 50's. I got a Powerful, message from a lady who was in her late 60's or early 70's. She told the best story. And she used fowl language and it still sounded so good and funny. I usually never curse, but she had a way about it.
Are you going to the picnic today?

You know, you showed me something. That we could have all the clean time in the world. But something could happen, something unpredictable, and we could relapse again. I think it is important to give support and talk to and be kind to addicts who are suffering or are  using. Because we might be in that position some day.
That male addict that I told you about works his program this way. He says that he does not care if you are his mother, sister, brother or best friend. If you are using you are his enemy.
I guess everybody has their own program.
I hope you get back to NA and get involved like before. You did a-lot of service work when you were there. How much clean time do you need to do service.
Maybe you don't have to do much. Just sit back relax and enjoy the meeting.
This forum is great, but we need to socialize with other recovering addicts. We need to be around people who are working the program.
peace and love
