H3girl---Suboxone info

Hey I was reading your questions about suboxone and thought I would try to help you out... I live in Detroit so I can only tell you how it works here but I would think it would be the same pretty much anywhere.... Anyway I started on Suboxone in December, and my insurance is paying half the bill because I have substance abuse coverage at a 50% copay  so I pay about $50 a visit and I have to go once a week.. Also I have prescription coverage so I only have to pay my $15 copay to get the rx... Now I know alot of doctors won't take insurance for Suboxone treatment and I don't know why but I had to call about 30 places before I found one willing to bill my insurance and treat me... Most of the other places wanted between $200-$400 for the first visit and $100 for the subsequent visits and on top of that they want about $5 a pill for the suboxone.. I feel very blessed that I found a clinic willing to work with me and my insurance, and the Suboxone has been a godsend for me...I know I was easily spending $500-$1000 a month on pills so for me I would have paid for the treatment regardless because it is still cheaper than my pill habit.... I started on 12mg/day for three weeks then 10mg/day for three weeks then 8mg/ day and I just started my three weeks of 6mg/ day and I for the most part feel amazing I have not had any w/d at all and it has never made me high or given me any euphoric feelings, mostly it makes me feel very tired but only for about an hour after I take it..... If you have any questions I will help you any way I can :-)

Thanks so much I"m going to do some calling around today. Our insurance is an HMO and they can be difficult anyway. I'm really feeling great for the past two days and if this keeps up I can handle but if those pains and depression come back I will have to have help.

Suboxone is a great alternative to c/t and tapering.. You just have to remember that it is still an opiate so it has some pain relief action but it didn't really help me that much w/ depression, I am still working that part out... But I know if you choose to take it you will get benefits from it in your recovery... And this forum and the people on it are GREAT... I have learned so much from so many people so keep posting and venting and talking we are all here for you!!!
