I have been on suboxone about a year and have never felt better. Some people have told me I will have to get off soon. Is this true?  I don't ever want to go back to drugs.

Im on it now too and my doctor said it is not for long term use and every time I see him he wants me to be tapered down. I did decide through people on here since it seems very controversial, that I do not want to be on it long. That would defeat the whole reason I am on them in the first place, TO STOP DEPENDING ON PHARMACEUTICALS. Since you can get hooked on that too why would you want to be on it long? Well I started at 2mg in the morning and 2mg at night. After about 4 days of that i switched to 2MG once a day. Today I am on day eight and by tommorrow I am going to try and go day and half atleast before taking more. I had no other choice I tried to quit the Oxi's maybe 15 times atleast on my own. This made it possible for me where nothing else would. But like I said I am strickly tapering myself back and off of this so I can once and for all truly be free!

I have not taken sub but i am not sure what happens if u stay on it forever....i do know someone who has been on it for a 2 years and she feels it is next to impossible for her to get off due to the withdrawals and depression it causes...she is kinda stuck at 8mg a day and cant seem to get any lower...she does not feel great on it like u do tho...i guess because she was used to a higher dose for so long and now after tapering to 8 it is hard...dont know....seems like life long would be great for many if it is healthy...i just dont know...i do know that if u stay on it longer than a couple of months...most have to go thru some type of wds from it...my pain mgt doctor..also my friend..prescribes it but he wont let anyone stay on it long term...be safe...

Have you talk to you doctor about your plan? and are you getting other help NA or therapy? also how many mg are you on have you drop at all?

my dr told he "i can be on it foverever and a day". so i went to the websiute and confirmed his opinion

My doc told me they typically don't want to exceed a year with SUB. He didn't really explain why. My guess would be that after that much time it sort of just becomes another addiction. Have you been tapering at all? What is your dose?

i don't know anything about sub but wanted to welcome you. there are several here on sub. they should be coming along shortly.
