It get better, right?

So its been about 3 days since I stopped taking hydrocodone, I tapered then first. My withdrawal symptoms are a lot better and almost gone, just trouble sleeping and I'm having a lot of trouble when I have nothing to do. I used to take more of the pills when the kids were in bed to relax and watch a movie or when my little one was napping , but now I am finding it hard during those two specific times. It's like my brain relates relaxing with pain pills and I just can't sit and watch a show or anything. I stay pretty busy during the rest of the day, no problem. Please tell me this gets better. I want to be able to sit down with my husband and relax after a long day, without pills. Any advice?

I think the B-12 sublingual works best...I actually use the injection and the B-Complex.  The only thing is...some people it acts on very fast (like my hubby) others (like myself) it takes about 10 hours to kick in so I have to time when I take the B-12.  I finally figured out to get it when I go to bed...that way I sleep and in the morning I have energy.  I made the mistake once of getting the B-12 at about 3 in the afternoon...wound up wide awake all night.

Give it a try though...get it at Walmart though...very expensive at most places but only about $4 at Walmart :-)

Thank you so much everyone, I really appreciate all your comments. I'm going on day 4 and I feel good today, I'm just having trouble with energy crashes during the day. I was taking a B complex at breakfast time but then I have a big crash around 4-5 pm. I thought I'd take my b complex later today to see if it would help but now I'm exhausted right now, it's 11 am here. I'm finding that pills are starting to become a distant memory. I don't think about them much now. I get a little anxious at night but I slept better last night than the night before. I keep telling myself it'll get better each day.

Hi there and congratulations...you are surviving the WD symptoms.  You should go to your local GNC and ask them for something natural to help with anxiety and sleep.  Some people say Valerian works very well, Passion Flower works...I find that a combination works best.  Stop by GNC when you are able and I bet they will find something that will work for you.

Yes it does get better! I remember that same weird feeling when I stopped drinking. Like, there is something missing, something I'm not doing, forgetting...well there is! The drug or drink! Wish I could tell you there is a quick fix, but alas, there is not.

What you'll need to do, is find something, just for you, that you'll enjoy during those times that you used to reward yourself with a pill. It will take time also, as just the habit part takes 40 days in a row to change.

Just don't forget to do something for yourself, because nothing else will bring you back to the old behavior faster than pity, feeling like something has been taken away from you. Since this is during times that you cannot leave the house and attend a meeting, (which would be my suggestion) give some thought about things you enjoy, maybe even something you haven't tried, but might enjoy...you'll want to replace the pills with something positive, that is still, your time!

You are already way ahead of the game, not having awful withdrawals, so it's all about getting used to change and developing new routines. You'll do it! You have the kids that you love and who love you! You're worth it! ❤️ Kathy
