How to withdraw from long-term hydrocodone use

I've been taking hydrocodone for the past five years, and at maximum prescribed levels (1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours - - which, naturally, means 2 every 4 hours) for the past two.  How do I get off this stuff?  Cold turkey?  Phased withdrawal?

I've been a user for 6 or so years. Any kind of opiates I could get my hands on. I recently hit a wall, mentally and spiritually. Enough was enough. For the last few years I would try my best to get suboxone without getting into a treatment plan which is a stupid idea. Quitting takes more than trying to ween yourself off of drugs 2-3 subs at a time and when they were gone I'd have to find more which meant the chase was on which is sadly all part of the addiction. I'm going cold turkey while holding down a 60 hr a week job just to feel every inch of pain and DEAL WITH IT. I know there's no easy way out and I "as well as the disease" are to blame. I think I've finally found my strength in coming clean to my loved ones and becoming a weepy little child in the process. I also find strength in reading these posts. To know that I'm not the only one and there are people out there with the same stigma gives me odd comfort. I would hold an love any that ever have to go through this. Just know that if you can do it and get through it, that "hopefully" that or this is the last time I'll ever feel like this. Nothing worth anything in life is ever easy. WORK WORK WORK WORK!!!!

I have been on hydrocodone for about 6 years & have made up my mind to quit!  I haven't taken any in 3 days & am worried about the withdrawls. I had been consuming 15 a day & usually all at once.  I have a challenge in front of me because my husband of 16 years is also addicted, but he won't quit.  It is hard to deal with because I know that there are hydrocodone in the house. Knowing this makes it difficult not to crave them.  I haven't gone through any withdrawls yet, but I fear it is coming soon!  Any advice on how to keep my mind off of craving them - I think about taking hydrocodone every second of every day!  Help please!!!!

I'm a 23 year old male and my addiction to opiates like oxycodon n hydros started about a year ago first recreationally with friends, as these painkillers get u "high" and Are Strong and Addictive. I started to notice I needed to take the pills to feel Normal after about a month . After many attempts to quit throughout this past year. I have convinced myself that I don't Need pills to function; as only YOu can make Yourself quit if u feel addicted. The first week is hard but it's jus an illusion as the opiate tricks ur mind n produces extra endorphins which make u feel happy or forget about the pain. But every day after u quite u will begin to fell a little better n better till normal. I'm taking vitamins to help like zinc, b12, fish oil, eating healthy and exercise. I'm on day 7 n the depression n fatigue r fading! Keep hope for those struggling n GOD BLESS :-)

During said trip, ive taken way more than i needed for pain to help me with other emotional issues. I used to be afraid of coke n heroin. now i find im my own idiote i should have seen thru this. Now i not ony blow my own scrip but also  buy others. Im such a **** up. i thought for a few years there before the pills i was doing good, but trust me only a few. i cant believe i let this happen to me.
