mine too... :) dwelling on regret, pain, hurt is the best way to end with anxiety and depression... we need learning a healthy way to take things and life, we own up our responsability, sure but keep walking in life

I agree with you about the pain from our mistakes helping keep us clean, but I just wanted to mention something regarding Suboxone/Subutex.

It doesnt necessarily block the suffering, but it halts the constant ups and downs of Euphoria and Withdrawal, and stops the searching obsessing and craving of our drug of choice.  When used correctly, with counseling and additional support, it provides a mental reprieve so that we can learn to deal with those feelings and fears in an appropriate and healthy manner. Once we learn these techniques, we come off the maintenance.

I assure you that sub or not, that pain is still there... as when I came off the sub, I still had to deal with the heart wrenching pain of my past, however I was armed with the tools to apply that pain in a positive light, and not dwell on it.

While remembering our mistakes can certainly help, if not done properly... regret, pain and dwelling on the hurt we cause others can also keep us sick.

Just my personal experience. :-)
