Music really helps me during this time of recovery :)
I'm finding that I cry at just about every song these past few days. Even if its hard rock! I'm an emotional wreck right now anyway with the withdrawals and the anniversary of my Husband's death coming up. If I hear anything that makes me feel better, I'll come back and post it.
Thats a Great song - I love it too. Yes, "Ive asked directions from a Jeanie in a bottle of Jim Beam and she lied to me"...I can relate to the lyrics of that song very well.
Be well
Yes.. I have too! I never have been all that of a drinker, but when it talks about how things go from bad to worse and you go to the bottle of jim bean...( I always went to the bottle of pills) and they are the ones that told lies to me:) And also the part where it says " when your down in that darkness and feel like 100 demons are breathing down your back and if you slip and fall you will be lost forever " Then of course the uplifting part where it says "keep on going..don't slow down...walk right through it.." Awww.. I love it :)
unfortunately I kept listening to "Can't Find My Way Home" which is a really not good :o)
but it beats Sarah Mclaughlin "Arms of the Angels".... I friend of mine put a .22 through his brain while listening to that song and then had it played at his funeral. It's been 8-9 years and I still can't listen to that song without thinking of him...
I just listen to alot of techno (paul oakenfold is my favorite) so it makes me hyper anyways and I didn't notice that I was actually flipping out from w/d symtoms :oD
"Video games don't impact the youth! If they did, PacMan would have people running around in the dark to electronic music and eating little white dots .... oh, wait.... " :o)))
I'm so sorry for your friends death.
Damn, that Sarah McLaughlin song was on a tv commercial last night and it made me cry..literally. It is on an ad for the Humane Society. It's a long ad. They actually play the whole song as they are talking about cats and dogs that have been abused. It's awful and its sad. I was on day 8 yesterday and I really didn't need to see that ad, I felt "blue" as it was. Today is a better day and tomorrow will b even better. Atleast I keep telling myself that.
I listen to Metal, old Metal, Rock, and Country. Somehow I find serenity and comfort in music of all types.
Be Well
ps: Many times in the past I've heard Steve Winwood say, "I'm wasted and I can't find my way home" and was able to relate
I think we must have been watching the same thing!! lolo
I saw that commercial for the first time last night and I did cry!!
The snapshots of the saddest & most heartwrenching faces on these animals is what did me in. I too find serenity in all kinds of music. My favs is the long wild haired 80"s groups, and country. Its funny how back in my day these groups were considered "heavy metal" and now for some reason, there not heavy anymore..there "classic rock". Go figure?!
I know what you mean...the snapshots of those poor animals is so sgut wrenchingly sad. I saw that commercial again today...I turned the chanel.. I have 4 cats. They were all adopted from shelters and the Humane Society. Now they are all spoiled and very much loved.
Something funny that you will understand. I was in a doctor's office last week and heard Winger's "Headed for a Hearbreak" playing on the radio in the office...LMAO ! I almost fell over. Talk about feeling old ?
I still listen to the old wild hair headbanger 80's bands especially bands like Aerosmith and Motley Crue...I love them and always will. One day I'll be a 70 year old woman still rocking to ACDC's Hells Bells..lol..
Hang in there !
today is day 9 and I made it so far..woohoo.
lololo!!! Yes I know exactly what you mean!! That was something normally "back then" you would of NEVER heard in a DOCTORS office!! I love them all so much! I tell my hubby all the time that thats back when they really knew how to make music and was really passionate about it all. My favs are Aerosmith, Poison, Bon Jovi, Guns N Roses, Def Leppard, Metallica, etc.. soo great! I can just see me now at 80 yrs old sitting there rocking out to the " Enter Sandman" and "Something to believe in". lololo;)
Great going on day 9!! I'm on day 6 so I'm following you;)
Good job on day 6 !!! Congrats. Hang in there. How do you feel ? Today is day 10 for me and I don't feel so great yet. I hope that passes soon.
Oh yeah...I love Metallica, G&R, Poison, Ratt, and all of those great bands. I've seen a lot of them in my day. Here's telling my age..I saw ACDC when Bon Scott was alive and well. Metallica when Cliff Burton was alive, and Def Leppard when they were in their 20's.. Those were great times.. LOL....I'm cracking up because I say the same thing about music today, they just don't make em like they used to....ha !
I love country too, all of it, old and new. I love George Strait, T Tritt, Lori Morgan, and a lot of others., . Just keep on remembering the words to If You're Going Through Hell....thats an awesome inspirational & motivational song.
Hang in there and Be Well
Yes..that is a great inspirational song. Anytime I'm feeling down or feel like caving I just put my headphones on and I play that song as loud as it will go. It seems to always leave me with a new sense of willpower and a feeling of I can make it;) Ohhh, I love country too!! Patsy Cline "walking after midnight". Reba, travis tritt, and all the new,...especially the groups like Lonestar, and I absolutly love the group " Rascal Flatts" !! Music is sooo wonderful!!
