Yes, Everyone....

Cindy is right.

I'm guilty of these violations as well, and IF I post in the future, My posts will not contain any referrences to ANYTHING but my own PERSONAL situation.

It would be a shame to see this place "Go Down" because of continued violations of the rules.

Hope Everyone is Doing well....

Jess

Hiya Suz.. (Wink, Wink) (OOps.. I hope that wasn't a violation!)

Yep... that's right.

Now go mind your own business!
Just kidding....

Hope you're staying cool today... It's rainy and dreary here in Nebraska too, but it was in the 90's a couple days last week, so I'm not complaining!

Buh-Bye,

Hello everyone,
I am not bragging but my two cents worth on the MS vs OXY is this. (BTW: I had a botched surgery of c2,5&6 20 years ago, pain is my constant companion, but thank the Lord I'm mobile in all ways.
In any case if you fire them up there is not much difference....MAYBE 5-10 mg going to OXY. I used to find MS laced frozen drinks (liquid IR w/ the little dropper.) However, pill for pill nothing beats defeating the timed release on at least an 80 OC if you've the tolerence of an elephant (as I do)..:-(
I am adament that Oxycontin has gotten more undeserved bad press just because a few "immortal" 16 year olds chewed a handful of them , not even knowing the strenth and washed them dowm w/ a pint of JD. I dare say this is NOT the drug's fault.
Did you guys/gals know that the FEDs each year "predict yearly what will be needed on their little *controlled substances* list and guess what got a BIG cut for 03? OXYCODONE, which for sake of the bickering above IS the same ingrediate sans acetaminophen, in OC just normally 5 little mg instead of 10-(at one time 340). I understand the publicity got the 340s cut from the line, leaving 160s at the top.
Best wishes to all.....:-)

I wanted to post this as a new question but was told that I would have to wait.  So here goes...

I went to a pharmacy today to have a prescription filled for fioricet (my drug of choice) a barbituate. I am planning again to try to taper myself off of these things.

I left the prescription at the pharmacy and they called and said that some flag went up in their computer and they couldn't fill my prescription without calling my doctor.  Apparently they found out that I had the same prescription filled recently at another one of their pharmacies.

To make a long story short, I took the prescription from them and will try to fill it elsewhere but now I'm afraid because it has writing on it from the pharmacy. Numbers and letters that mean nothing to me.

I am so scared and to top it off I am going through the w/d from this drug. I have made an appt. with an addiction doctor but it's not for 3 more weeks.

Has anyone ever encountered this problem??  Will I be in trouble with any other pharmacy where I try to have this filled? Will they be suspicous when they see the writing on the prescription.

Any advice would be helpful

A shaking Golden Slipper

You are in some dangerous water now.  I wish I could be more kind, but I got really burned toward the end of my addiction and I had to have a very lovely talk with pharmacist, doctors, and yes the police.  You want to stop, so can you discuss this openly with a doctor who could give you another script to allow you to taper.  You may want to not use your Primary since you could have issues with them forever after you tell them.  Since a barbituate should be tappered from anyway, you may find it easier and safer to get a new script.  Once you have pharmacies calling each other and then doctors well I am not saying you were near as bad as me, but the pharmacist and doctors go in to CYA mode and you are going to get caught in the crossfire.  Hang tough, keep your head, and you will be fine...

hope everyone is doing well and feeluing well, it took me years to learn the difference.
one time my sponser asked me how i was doing and i responded
i feel like **** and i feel like killing myself.
his response was . i did not ask how you were feeling , i aske how you were doing. so i sat there and thought a minute
and anawered him, well i said i got up  i preyed , i went to work.
i went to a na meeting , i went out after the meeting and got something to eat at the local diner, and then i came over to see you.
he said to me sound s like you are doing good.
well he was right , but up untill that point in my life i always based my life on my feelings, .
It took about another year for my feelings to catch up with my
reality of doing good.
back then i was 25 and my life was mess , i had just gotten divorced for the second time , i was a few months clean , i had not seen my children for months, because of custdy battles.
my ex married a cop and she had free lawyers and it was just
costing me everything, but as i stayed clean i got both my kid's from 2 different marraiges , i got anther house and i wound up marring the nicest, prettiest girl in NA AT THE TIME .
SO STAYING CLEAN PAID OFF  in aces for me.
and i know it will agian

peace to all this place is a great place to get cleaned up and learn a lot about all that goes along wiyh that difficult task.
we really do need a mircle everyday, divine intervention.
we do our best and god does the rest.
we just have to watch thwt we don't try to do the rest , because that is god job,

I've found a new Family doctor for my back and she prescribed ultram 50mg, 2 tabs every four hours. I noticed that when i took them I get a sort of buzz. She says these aren't narcotics but my mind tells me otherwise. I've also heard from the forum that the side effects can be bad too. Is this too high a dose or what should I do. oh yeah and it's 10 days since my last vicodin too.

hey therre ,michael here , i have taken ultramin the begining it makes ya tired.
but after a few months  ya get imune to them , try not to fall ito the trap of taking more of them. 4 a day at the most.
they have nasty withdrawls, just as bad as opiates,
so try to taper off them should you stop taking them,
the wd symptoms are depression, panic, sweats, lack of energy.
if you take them as preccribed they work a little bit.
good luck , hpoe your pain is not to bad ,also you might want to try MSM a sulfer based mineral taht does wonder for pain.

Hi all;  I'll try to keep this as short as possible.  I couldnt figure out how to start a new thread, so i just threw this in here.  I'm  35.I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 6.  It progressed greatly over the years..only going into remission a few times.  I've had several joint replacements, including..both hips (twice), the knuckles and wrists of both hands and more recently my right knee.  As you can imagine the pain is quite severe.  I've been on every NSAID (non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug)that is available, as well as being a guniea pig for a few of them.  None of them have reduced my pain or helped to slow down the disease.  The first painkiller i was put on was Darvocet and that was when I was 18, following my first joint replacement.  Of course it gave me that feeling of euphoria that you all know so well, but at the time I didnt like that feeling at all and only took the Darvocet when absolutely needed.  Eventually the Darvocet wasnt working, it stopped controlling the pain even when i took it as prescribed.  My Rheumatologist decided to put me on Vicodin ES.  I didnt have any idea what it was or how strong it was.  That was about 8 years ago.  Like everyone else here I began to like the way it made me feel, even though it didnt take my pain away completely, it made me forget about it for a short while.  I started out taking 2 a day.  One in the morning and one at night before bed.  Then I began to increase the dosage, even though i never consulted my Dr.  For the first few years I was still able to make the bottle last for the month.  Then I would take one more, then another and so on...

My Dr. (our family Dr.) has no problem writing these scripts for me because of my disease.  This past Tuesday he decided to switch me from Vicodin ES to Percocet..he said he was worried that the pharmacy's would start cutting back on the amount they keep in stock because of so many robberies for Vicodin in this area and in the country.  I had been up to about 7 or 8 Vicodin a day, then when i would run out with a week to 10 days before i could get them filled again I would just do without.  The strange thing is, ive never experienced the wd's i've read about on here....not once.  I don't understand why.

So, i got the script for Perc's filled today...and i took 2, talk about a high..WOW.  I know i must have an addiction even though ive never experienced any wd's.  If i stop taking them I don't know what I would do for pain control.  Some days my pain is so bad i can't walk and have to sit in bed for a few days.  Others I am able to move around at a slow pace or in a wheelchair.  I'm sure many of you know how bad Arthritis can get.  I think my main worry like so many of you is the damage to internal organs like my liver and kidneys.  Of course I have a monthly blood test for that and so far I'm fine.  I didnt realize it was an addiction until I found this site a few weeks ago.  I don't want to be addicted...even though I havent gone through the wd's...i do count the days til i know i can get a new script filled.  And while part of that is because of my joint pain..a lot of it is because of the way it makes me feel.

I hope this isnt too long and that what im trying to say is clear.  I would love to hear from any who would like to respond.
Thank you for reading..oh by the way, im female, lol.

hey golden slipper, it is aginst the law to doc hop,
and thre insurenc companys are on the look out for this type of thing, it is best to be honest, and talk to a professional addiction conseler, you don't want to get into leagel problems.
so why don't you go to the dr. who wrotr the script and ask him to write another one if you really need it. and talk to him about tapering off them if you don't really need them.
if you do need them , still talk to your doc, and i hope he will
help you out.

fiviel you seem to need the meds, the buzz you get from the percs will not last, sorry to hear about you situation
with the pain . sounds like you are doing what you gotta do , so try not to abuse the meds , that can turn into a nightmare
.
a place you don't want to go to.
so bee good and take care, keep posting .
if you have any realy difficult questions ,post the to mr michael
he is part of this fourm and he to has to take meds and he is very ,very experenced with pain and pain meds.

peace !!!!!!!!!!!!!!my prayes are with you guys

Listen--I am in NO WAY encouraging Dr. Shopping--I  was just seeing if I could help you determine what the pharmacy was up to.  Hippy's right--it'd be a shame to get busted at this point.  Do you have a doc who can help you w/ taper meds?  Good luck--Peaz

Thank you for responding Michael.  I was a little worried that nobody would, LOL.  Since I had been taking 7 or 8 Vicodin a day, i didnt know if that was addiction or not...it's more than is prescribed, which is one tablet 3 times a day.  What I can't understand is why i never went through wd's during the time when i ran out of pills.  I waited for it and was sure i would have to go through it too.  I just dont know.  Again, thank you for responding and God's blessings to you and everyone else.

Michael,
Been reading this forum for couple years now.  Post every now and then.  When you wrote Michael at end of post above, which I don't recall you mentioning your name before, it kind of hit me.  Your posts have always helped me.  Just that your Hippy name always (and still does) make me feel like I'm a little kid listening to the old wise man! funny.  Hell I'm 38, but with the drugs I'm just like a 16 year old kid looking for help (aren't we all when hooked on opiates!) It has helped me tremendously.  Clean now 7 full months!  Hope you stick around Hippy!  Thanks

Hi Golden Slipper,
I found you over here. I have been in the same situation so I sort of figured it as a useless script because of the writing on it. I swear they do that on purpose. It is frightning, you can feel every muscle tightening up in your body at the thought of a useless script.
I am back, I have just posted on the usuall forum and will email direct Mon. morn.
Please let me know how you are doing.

We will get through this.....I am now REALLY there with you.
