Thank you so much salsinator I am so ready to be off this med the way I have it figured I should be taking my last dose on Oct. 5th. I can't wait to be clean I mean for real clean.
Hi wantitsobad. Thanks for sharing more about your story. Sub can be so frustrating, but it really does have it's place and it has helped so many people. Looking back, it was the right treatment course for me because it helped me work through the causes for my drug addiction and stop the drug seeking so when I stopped the sub, I was truely ready and have the tools in place to stay clean.
It sounds like you have a good plan in place and you are in the right place by posting here. there are lots of people with experience with opiate and suboxone who can and will share their experience. feel free to message me if you have any specific questions that you don't want to post here. Hang in there, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Thanks for the replies but I wasn't asking anyone to help with tapering I was just telling my storing and letting you know that I am tappering right now and I am tapering on the advise of my doctor I just don't want to see him anymore he crossed the line with me and I don't want to deal with him and I'm ready to be off of sub. I don't want to depend on any drugs anymore. Yes I went to group meetings it wasn't for me. I took vicoden for 2 years for back pain I have degenerating disc diease I never took more then 6-7 750's a day towards the end of the day. I have never once took another pill again after I went through withdraws and started sub. Of course I did research but I didn't reasearch blogs just medical website that explained what the drug did, when I first started taking the pills I really didn't care I trusted my doctor she is the one who refered me to the sub doctor and I trusted him. I worked 50 hours a week and I was about to go back after my back surgrey and I thought I would be sick like that for a while and wouldn't be able to function feeling this way. So when I took the sub I thought it was a mircle but now reading the boards I feel I should have never been put on sub I should have toughed it out. My doctor had me convinced I was this horrible drug addict he also tried to control me and he made me feel uncomfortable a few times. Everyone thinks he is a God because he is the only sub doctor in the area. I'm not concerned about after and relapsing if I can get through the withdraw part of it I can handle the after. I will never ever take another pain pill unless Im in dieing pain I hate depending on these stupid pills. I have started to take viatims I stated that before. All I'm looking for is some support and advise not medical advise just personal experiences that help me. I know I have to do this I don't want to do back to the doctor he snow balled me long enough.
Hi wantthissobad - welcome to the forum. IBKleen is right, we cannot give you specific advice on dosage for tapering, but I can share with you some of my own experience with suboxone that may help you. First off, you can get off suboxone. I took it for nearly 4 years. Suboxone is very strong, so the trick is stopping at the absolute lowest dose possible - like 0.5mg. Since the tablets are in 8mg, this can be very tricky, the 2mg tabs make that a bit easier. If you are using the 8mg tabs, then at 2mg, you are using 1/4 tablet. You will need to literally shave off crumbs from 1/4 tablet, so try dropping lower and spreading out the time inbetween your dose until you are down to just a chip, then drop off. There are some who have quit successfully at 2mg, but unfortunately since the half life is so long, the withdrawal will take over a week and even at 2mg, it can be uncomfortable. If you can, consult with your doctor on stopping because he may be able to help you with some meds short term for the withdrwal. The other important part it to have an aftercare program in place to help keep you clean.
Best of luck to you
Hi,
We cannot help you get off of the Suboxone as in tapering tricks or anything of that nature. You need to speak with your doctor about that. We can help you with otc supplements and home remedies to help ease the withdrawal. So ask if you are interested.
I need to ask: Did you do any research when you went on the program? Any reading at all about Suboxone? Also, did you do any counseling or support group therapy or anything in two years?
