Sorry your post is not clear to me on how much you are tapering off?
Best
Michael
When you say you already went off 25 for a week what does that mean?
Are You under A Doctors care for this taper..Please do take it from someone who experienced a c/t from a benzo with 2 other meds. NOT GOOD..Make sure it IS under a DR Taper..DO NOT do this alone..OK
Hi there Lucky! Please listen to Vicourageous. She has been there and knows all about this. Detoxing from any benzo, xanax included, can be very dangerous. It is very different from opiate wds. Please, please, please talk with your doctor. Even if you bought these on the street and didn't get them from your doctor, it is very important to let your doctor know. Be 100% honest. They will come up with an appropriate taper plan for you that will minimize detox symptoms. Good luck to you and take care!
If you're having big-time WD symptoms during a taper, that means you're rushing things way too fast. Don't jump down to the next level until you're fully stabilized on the present level. This includes your Doctors taper plan. With Benzos it's gotta be very slow and easy. I tapered off of Ambien and it took me 4 months. Ambien uses the same receptors as Xanax.
Congratulations on your quest to get your life back. Xanax is infamous for always demanding more and more to achieve the same effects. It's a bottomless pit. I know .25 is the lowest dose. You're quitting at a good point; while standing on the edge of the pit looking down...much easier than being at the bottom looking up! I wish you the best, keep on keeping on, and keep posting!
I agree with the replies above.
OpenMind is so right, with benzo taper, slow and steady really DOES win the race. Thankfully you weren't on a super high dose, but it's still important to do a slow and deliberate taper.
Make sure you're doing this with the help of your doctor, and if at any point you're uncomfortable or are having an issue, let your doc know. Good luck to you!
