Kidney pain during tramadol withdrawal

Hi. Anyone know why the kidneys hurt during Tramadol/Ultram withdrawal?  It feels like my lower back, but it is on both the right and left sides where the kidneys are located.    Very unusual but it has been like this since I stopped taking them last week.   How long till the kidney pain eases up.  It's uncomfortable, but tolerable.

Hello . . . . congrats on getting off the tramadol.  I took this med for a long, long time at really high doses.  It is great that you did a taper before you quit; that definitely seems to help ease the w/d symptoms.  It sounds like you are doing all the right things to help yourself feel better and get back to normal.  I did feel a little of the pain in the kidney area as well, but it was not really one of my "problem" symptoms.  I don't know how long you were on the trams(?), but if it does continue to get worse you could always talk to your doctor about it just to be sure.  Because I was on them for SO long I was concerned about any damage I may have done to (all) of my insides.  I recently had blood work done; very easy, (just one poke!), and they checked all my levels - liver enzymes, kidneys, thyroid, etc.  Things came back ALL good (except for extremely low vitamin d levels - go figure).  So if you are concerned, a quick check up with blood work could put your mind at ease.  Good luck :)

Thanks.  I am exercising, drinking tons of water, I also juice a great deal so I am getting tons of vitamins and minerals.  I am very healthy given everything I have shoved in my body.  It has been 4 days since the last Tram, but I was weaning down to just 1 or 2  of the 50mg tabs per day when I stopped.

Hi I am not a DR nor do I know how healthy you are..From my experience it eased up day by day,,I was also going to the bathroom alot..It got better..I think it just takes time for the kidneys to rid the poisons and come back to normal..Methadone and Trams seem to have a bit of longer legs from what I understand..Just keep flushing you system and do get the magnz it helps..There are alot of trams people on here that will be in..They might have more suggestions for you..Get the cranberry to..Try to eat healthy. Diet is a big issue during this time and forever...Just keep drinking the fluids it should go away..If it goes on for a long period..Do what I mentioned above and see a DR OK...Give it some time...
Hang tight you are doing good....

Hi and Welcome  Oh yes the good ol Kidney pain..Although I came off the methadone with 2 other meds..It still is part of the detox state..I was bit worried about it my self..I did go to DR and had blood drawn for that and other issue that kept going on for months..It all has to do with the healing process. If you think about it, all these meds are not natural..So it does play havoc on the system AND the organs in the body. The brain is a organ too..It all depend on your health and how fast you can get healed..Do you have alot of natural vit/min..Drinking lots and lots of water to flush it out..It did go away and I feel no pain in the area..If you also are experiencing some mild pain going up and down the spine this is normal too for the detox stage..It is the nervous system trying to balance back. There is also a sac at the bottom of the spine that seemed to be the last thing to rid the poisons out..So be that said I would just give it some time..If it continues after a few Please go to DR...I think you will be fine..Just hang tight and ride the Wave..You will walk on the Beach real soon..OK
Drink Cranberry Juice too..
