Today is my 3rd day at 10mg. of Methadone. I went against the clinic's recommendation and decreased 2mg. on Wednesday instead of waiting to decrease 1mg. today. I've felt very little discomfort throughout this year + taper that started at 155mg. I realize I'm in the zone (20mg. and under) that gives many people trouble. It’s been good so far thankfully. If I were to make a recommendation to anyone wanting to taper, I would suggest taking it slow, exercising regularly and taking vitamins. These things seem to be working for me. It's still not perfect.....I feel a little crappy in the morning and sometimes throughout the day and I get mild RLS before bedtime. Unless I run into any severe withdrawals, my plan is to continue decreasing 2mg. every Wednesday until I'm down to nothing, or, maybe I'll get brave and just stop taking Methadone at 6mg. or less. For the first time I'm at a dose where I think it's possible to stop if I had to or choose to. I do want to get a bit lower before I seriously start considering that option. It is however giving me the feeling that I'm now in control somewhat instead of the clinic.
