Addition Timeframe

To anyone who knows:
I am supplementing a tapering schedule off of hydro with valium. Now, the last thing I want is to get addicted to something else. My hydro addiction has averaged approx. 200mgs/day, but the last few days has been closer to 300mgs. I have approx. 100 10/mg valium tablets. My tapering schedule runs over 20 days. I am assuming that I will be taking 1 valium during the day and 1 before bed. I am also assuming, that I will continue taking 1 tablet before bed for approx. 10 days after my body is completely hydro-free. So this is the way my valium intake will look:

20mg/day for 20 days
10mg/day for 10 days

Do I risk PHYSICAL addiction (and hence, withdrawal) given this usage outline? (I am very aware that the psycological dependence is a whole nuther thing and I am prepared for that...)

Thank you for anyone who has some knowlege/experience in this area.

Sean!!!!!!!!!!! Throw half that bottle of valium out! Do you have a pharmacy hookup?

1st off, valium is usually prescribed in 5mg, not 10mg. So you are already taking "Double". I would take 1 twice a day like you said for no more than 10 DAYS. 20 pills total.

You are taking 60 5mg vic's aday right now. Or 30 10mg. Either way that is alot even for rec. use. So this is going to be hard, but you are going to have to get your use down to something more workable and then go cold turkey and use the 20 valium to help you through the 1st couple of days. Then it is up to you to stay strong.

My personal feeling is that you sound pretty out-of-control right now. And that you have figured out that you can't do this forever. But, in your drug induced thoughts, you might think it is a good idea to keep the 100 valium around, and that you will taper and be fine.
You won't. I wouldn't be able to. I'd eat em' all up, then said ****, and have had to deal with it.
Sometimes we just have to realize this drug has control over us and that we have to have reasonable thoughts about how we are going to get off of them.
It is different for everyone. I am hopeing the best for you. But I have been reading you post since you have been here and it seems like you are really reaching out. That you are finally at the end of your rope. Yet your usage is going UP.

I am really hopeing you can do this the best way for you and your family. I am just scared for you too since you have said so many things that I remember myself saying. I have been there too. The funny thing is it seemed like my thoughts were "clearer" when I was high as a kite. When I am that high though, I think I am just as normal as the person next to me. How wrong I am, was, and will be,
Chezz

Just my thoughts and ramblings... Day 1/2 I took my last two this morning so my posts will probably be kind of messed up

Sorry to hear that you are starting all over again...what happened when you last tried to taper, about a week and a half ago? Was there something that prompted a relapse? Since you are taking more now then ever, I feel that you must be going through some emotional pain right now. Please tell us about it...you need to get it off your chest. I have been where you are, taking that much vicodin per day, and you may want to consider going on methadone, where you do not control the amount of your taper, a doctor does. You only have to dose once a day, and then go on with your life. It is confidential, and much easier than trying to taper on your own. Its a twenty-one day detox plan, and at the end you are clean! Think about this...be smart. This is much easier than trying to control your own intake of your drug of choice.

You have already started to detox. That is why I could never taper. When you are done, get it over with.
You will have to deal with these symtoms all week and then "offically" do it again on Friday. I couldn't imagine.

If you stopped today or tomorrow, you would/will feel alot better by then end of you vacation and during the parties and ect. you have to go to.

Just a thought.....then you could join me in detox heaven....

Jenn,

It won't be much worse than you are going through right now. Mainly mental. That part sucks. Our mind trying to convince us we have to have this drug. That sucks. Why can't we control at least our "own" mind.

You said : I had pretty much tapered my usage, over the past few months, to around 5 a day, with an occasional weekend splurge of 10.

So you were taking about 40-50 a week. So when you tapered down to 2 your body said no way!

I understand the work issue and stuff. I just couldn't imagine the kid thing. That has got to be hard.

I hope whatever way you do it, you have an "easy" time and it isn't too bad. I just want to see you get better sooner too.

Believe me Jenn, I have thought I had enough meds to last me and then said...oh shoot!!!

I am wishing you luck this week. Because if you can detox and still work through this, you will be free.
I have done the same thing and just dreaded everyday at work. Believe it or not though, it made it easier since I was busy and not "watching the clock" It does have it's own set of b/s to do it at work too.

I hope you do get some sleep tonight too. You know what I really feel like...
Like I feel so bad for you and everyone else to have to go through this. I figure the pain I am going through is enough. I hate to see other people have to go through the same thing.

Anyways, I hope your withdrawls aren't too bad. And they shouldn't be since you slimmed down.

Good luck,
Chezz

Hi--

I posted the URL for the Rx site.  It's not that hard to use, but to use it with just an imprint, rather than the drug name, you must click on "Advanced Search," which will give you more options.
