New Road

Well today is 69 days for me! Whaooooo!!! Just wanted to share to all of you out there that this can be done. I lost so much when i quit (girlfriend, career, friends....) But gained much more; life!!! It was a tough road and still is but it is one I am in for the long haul. I am finding life to be so much more pleasurable. I never thought that i could be this far in my journey. I remember the first month and id have good days and bad days and i would question everything. Never knowing if i would ever be free. Well i am free and it gets better everyday. There is a constant need for me to stay busy and keep goals which i do daily. For all you out there trying so hard to overcome this addiction, you obviously are not alone, and good luck  in your journey. When your down, think of the positives in your life even if they may be miniscule. Things will pick up for all those who want them. God Bless

Thanks everyone!! That being said, today is day 70!
I was addicted to Vicodin for about 7 years. First 2 years it was about 5 a week occasional. Year 3-4 about 10 a day. years 4-7 were strange. Did suboxone those 3 years  but on suboxone I was still doing vicodin, which didnt work by the way. My doc like most sub docs just wanted me on them i feel. I am sorry to say that but it seems like he didnt have a real plan for me. So year 6, for about 2-3 months I got up to 20 a day. Decided it was too much. Time to quit. Tried and holy **** it kicked my *** from the subs. So I stopped subs and started a taper on vicodins. went from 20-10 and down. was on 3 vics for a few months and jumped. It was tough. but im here now sober and happy and living life! Off to go fishing on my friends boat. !!

Congratulations...Life is wonderful without meds. We all have to be careful because sustained recovery requires us to be aware of the temptation that will always be there. Your post is inspirational.
