Hi everyone, it's day 17 for me. Miracle!!!
I'm an Acupuncturist....yea, a wounded healer. Anyway I am working at a pain clinic right this very moment, helping out a fellow Acupuncturist and I just noticed that they dispense pain meds here!!!!
OMG!!! I feel like an alcoholic working on a bar!
The pills are screaming at me!
But, they won't win! I'm not going down that road to hell!
However, I'm craving and this *****!

hi lisa, just wanted to say, stay strong ok. Dont give in no matter what. It could only lead to horrible things. You've helped me so much seeings how we have the same clean time. So now i want to be here for you. I dont know if i could just walk away and not check the bags. Your being very strong and i want to thank you for that. It helps all of us to realise that we can all beat this. Its a lot of hard work but if you could walk away from that temptation then you can do anything. Remember, dont give in to the temptation, not only would it be bad for you and your recovery, but you could lose your job if your caught. You cant afford to lose another job. I think they are under lock and key but looks like they fill scripts and then put them in bags. Those are not locked up. But honestly I didn't look in the bags.
This is just showing me how much I don't want that life anymore.

Don't give in!

I will say this: when I quit smoking, I kept my very last pack of cigarettes that I had just one smoke from before I quit. I still have it to this day, to remind me and make me stronger for not giving in. I know they're there - but I also know I don't need/want them.

For some people this is a bad idea - for me it has worked.

Don't be tempted, and realize instead of just going off the wagon again, you'll likely be facing JAIL and criminal charges.

Hi there---this must be really hard for you to know this. Are they scheduled drugs (narcotics, benzos, etc.)? If so, they need to be under lock and key anyway, not just for you, but for legal protection for the employees and to deter theft. I never worked anywhere where they didn't keep schedule drugs under lock and key, and only RN's could have the key. Well, whether they are narcotics or not, they don't need to be tempting you!

Thanks. Everyone went to lunch and I was left alone. Of course I looked in the open cabinets..curious!!
A month ago, I don't think I could trust myself bur today...no way!!!!!
Yes, I do go to NA. It helps a lot. Going tonight.

ok, make sure it is closed and you can not get them, i know well that you are in a situation that you can not leave the job but make sure you can not reach them... I have these pharmacies here where i could buy a lot of stuff with little effort ... it took me some months going into one and i have one in front of my house... but i take it as alcoholics that go to parties and don't drink...using is not an option,  make sure that you are not near the pills, don't dwell on these thoughts, you could also go to a doctor and ask for some and no, this is not something you would do because using is just not an option...  maybe it is a good time to go to some kind of aftercare. Sorry, maybe you are attending but i don't remember now
