Does anyone else needs lortabs to get energy. I am trying to taper but when I first get up in the morning to get my kids ready for school I feel like I have to have one pill to get started. I really hate it.

I agree with every post.... Energy...My addiction started the same way.. I would wake up early enough to take the pills get my kids clothes out... and then get back in the bed for about 30 mins... to "let them help me"... ....Only you know yourself best... Taper or C/T ... big move.... I know that I have to go C/T because I know me... If I have them... I will take them...so getting rid of it all and not having it is the only way for me to go... it is not easy...C/T day 2 for me... I want one right now and if I had it... I would take it...that is why I do not have anymore.... Best of luck to you no matter what you choose.....

I use to take a Norco as soon as I sat on the side of my bed in the am for energy.  I did use the taper method over a couple of months before stopping all together.  It wasn't a piece of cake but not more than I could handle.  I cut my pills in 1/2 then next step stretched out the time.  I also played games like only putting out the daily dose of pills and putting the bottle on top of a high shelf that I would have to get a step ladder to climb up to get.  That way I didn't absent mindedly take extra.  The habit is so strong that we take a pill when we first feel an ache start.  Its hard to brake old habits, but it can be done.  The body does need 2-3 days on a new dose to adjust.  Picture a bundle of thousands of nerves use to being bathed with nice narcotics to keep them calm and happy.  I think it is easier to feed some of them and wait for the old ones to adjust then take a few more off the narcotic, etc.  Everyone is different and some say they couldn't handle tappering, but c/t worked for them.  I'm such a wimp I was afraid to c/t.

Thanks for the reply. I want to be able to do things with my children without having to take a pill to do it. Before my heart surgeries I was a totally different person, I did not need pills and could not understand people with addictions. But now I am one of those people. How did I get this way? I want my old self back. I am neg. about this tapering thing. I know I need to be positive, but I cannot get my mind sit.

Yep, I can totally relate. Thats why I got addicted , for the energy. After using for a long time it takes more and more to get that energy and it seemed to fade very quickly.  There are things we can do naturally to increase our energy level, but it seems we all want that quick fix, fountain of youth pill.  I also thought I couldn't get out of bed without one.  I am 1 month clean and you can get out of bed without them. Get clean, stay clean.   You don't want these pills to run your life and they will.    Best of luck.  Mary

The energy thing is alot mental. Have you tried taking something for energy like B12 drops or the amino acid L-tyrosine?? Both of these are natural and not only help with energy but can help with other things as well. If you click on my screen name and go to my profile I have tons of info about natural things to help detox and tapering.

Yes.It's mental addication and physical addication. I need about 5 10/325 norocs just to wake up in the morning. And I lose try of how many I take through-out the day.I'd say about 30 norcos a day.It really sucks. Thank god I'm starting the suboxone program friday.
