I am on day five of my withdrawl from hydrocodone and do feel a little better but am very moody and irritable. I was only on it for 2-3 months but the withdrawls felt like the worst flu I have ever had and nothing made it better. Any suggestions or does anyone know when I will feel like myself again?
Thank you. I called the pharmacist last night and he said it was fine. I had to get melatonin due to the fact I am allergic to diphenhydramine which is the active med in the majority of sleep aids. I was able to get a few hours of very restless sleep.
This is probably too late, since its morning, but get all the sleep aids you can. Tylonol PM, Nyquil, Valarian Root, Melatonin tablets, whatever works for you. Be careful about taking too much though, because some of those can backfire and actually make you more restless. If you got any sleep last night count it as a plus. Get something to help you tonight.
Will taking over the counter sleep aids interfere with my withdrawal? I just want to sleep.
It was 60mg/day. To be honest, sometimes it was a "bit" more.
I have chronic pain from lupus and endometriosis. I have taken narcotics on and off for the past several years to deal with it and have never had a problem. My tolerance became higher and so did the dosage. I found myself exceeding the prescribed dosage. I was still in pain so I would just take more. I don't crave it mentally but physically I do.
If I understand, you have been taking opiates for 1-1/2 months, first oxycodone (percocet) and maxed out at about 60 mg/day hydrocodone (lortab) at 10mg every 4 hours or was it every 4 hours during the day for a total of 30-40 mg/day?
I am only going on my experience, but I think you might be in the worst of it now. You just need to keep your focus and know that it WILL pass in a few days.
The worst symptons are from days 2-7 for most. Then it will vary by individual. I had RLS for about 10 days and a runny nose and stuffed head for 30 days. Variances are caused by length of time one has been taking drugs and the amounts used.
But it does and will get better. just hang in there and keep posting and reading even if it is in the middle of the night. It helped me greatly.
Thank you for the support.
Well I have been on them for over a month. But I have a highly addictive personality. I was on Lortabs for the past two weeks and the dosage was 10mg. I was taking them every four hours due to my high tolerance of narcotic pain medication. Before that Iwas on percs for a month. I really have no support in this due to the fact that I have seen several different doctors because we have moved. Right now I'm just having severe muscle aches and insomnia. Should I expect it to get worse?
Well, from my experience with the same DOC, you are going to go through a good hard 4-5 days till things start to calm down. A lot of it depends on how much and how long you have been taking. You are about to start the roughest part, days 3 and 4, but you already have 2 days behind you! so hang in there! Search the forum for the Thomas recipe and follow that if you can, and I am sure that others will be posting some advise. You are in the right place.
Depends on what dose of pills you were on. When w/d I had... chills, sweats, goosebumps, diareah, sneezing constantly, can't sleep, fidgity, can't concentrate, can't eat... you name it. I think everyone is different though. Can you seek medical attention? Sometimes just being honest w/your doctor can really help you out.
Good luck,
