Please read and answer

Hello everybody, my name is Michael. I have been taking about 50-60mg of Hydro's/day for the last two years. On April 15, I took my last pill. My question is about all kinds of WD symptoms. I am having muscle twitches, headaches, and sometimes rapid or pounding heartbeat, mostly in the middle of the night. Also, anxiety is getting the best of me. I do not have cravings for the stuff, but physicaly and mentaly, I am not nearly OK.
Muscle problems and heart is particularly bothersome. Please share if you or someone you know had these.
Thanks a lot for your help.
Michael.

Not much to add to what's been said. I would get something for the W/Ds though; there is no need to suffer more than you have to. You are probably through the worst of it, but some symptoms could hang around. I am 31 days clean and feel pretty good, but I still have trouble sleeping; I woke up at 4am and haven't got back to sleep. When I lay down my legs feel somewhat restless, but nothing compared to the actual detox. I also get a burning sensation in my arms and headaches. It's not fun, but I am trying to think of it in a positive way; my body is healing itself and my natural receptors are reforming. It's literally healing from a disease that took over my body and mind.
As far as cravings go, I hope you continue not to get any. I didn't until this week. They hit me and I think, if I could just take a few pills I'd feel so good for a little while. Then I distract myself and it passes. I was driving home a bit ago and it hit me, and I hate that. I might have cravings for the rest of my life, but I can control whether I act on them or resist.
Good luck and I truly hope you feel better. I've been posting here for about 10 days and it's been a great help.
GWH, glad you seem to be recovering from your surgery. You did great. tracy

i am off the hydros for 28 days ,i was takeing 15 pills a day,
as far as withdrawls, muscle spasams throughout the body are normal.
the heart thing could be just panic attacks ,also normal.
headaches are also normal. and my favorite anxiety, that is also part of withdrawls. they all will subside. I have been going through all of them the last 4 weeks.                                                          some times i would wake up in the middle of the night,my heart would be racing up a storm and i would be sweating, I think it was just a bad or crazy dream.
the anxiety is still knocking me around a little.
Over all it's getting better.  keep posting and let us know how your making out.  peace

I have a feeling you are very much border line addicted, I feel that any of us who feel the need to post here, are most often addicted, HOWEVER I COULD BE WRONG, so don't get mad at me. All I want to say, and I think I speak for everyone when I say this. STOP RIGHT NOW!!!!! i don't care how bad the withdrawals are right now, they will only get worse, and the quick fix with more hydro will prolong a withdrawal that will be much worse then what your currently experience.!!!! Trust us on this one, I would love to see you keep posting and hearing that you are the one who listened and stayed away, so please, before you take anything, POST!! let us help you, sound like a plan???

Keep it up,

GWH

Michael:
welcome to this forum! there is always room for "just one more"
adict or drug dependet person,so please come on in.

i think the middle of the night heart pounding and muscle spasams
are very definately a abstence syndrome that clearly demonstrates
a dependence and/or addiction.whatever name you choose to call the symptoms is all righr by me. (i do not wish to label or oass judgement.

the fact that you claim you have no craveing indicates you have a
dependence and not a full blown addiction. keep in mind the line
between the two of these things are fraagile and transitory in nature, at best.

perhaps a trip to your doctor is in order in this case. there are
a number of meds he could put you on a very temporary basis.
clonidine, klonopin, and backloven (a neural muscle relaxer). the
klonopin and bacloven are both addictive, so no longer than abso-
lutely necessary, OK ?

your dosage of hydro, although not low, was by no means pratic-
ularly high, so any discomfort you expierence will bo of a very
temporary nature.

i wish you the very best of luck, and hope you are indeed just
dependet and not addicted! keep posting to us, as the people of
this board stand ready with an unbelieveable desire and knowledge
to help you through a very wierd and trying period of your life!

keep an angel on your shoulder

Hi Michael, welcome to the forum. I was taking about that much everyday for about 4 years until 39 days ago when i decided i wanted a new life. I tapered down to around 20mg a day and then just stopped with a few pills left and did not take those last ones. Everything you're expiriencing is normal for you, in terms of withdrawal. Everyone is different. But trust me, when it's all said and done, you'll feel so much better. For a the first 48 to 72 hours, you'll get the worst of it. Then from there on some bathroom time, night sweats, kicking.... no sleep... et cetera.

You can take Imodium for the runs, it works wonders. If you have cramps, Kaopectate. Take some Tylenol or aspirin for aches and pains. Take a multi-vitamin EVERYDAY. Pre-natal ones are great for detox. Also, an amino acid called, L-Tyrosine, you can pick up at the local health store. It works wonders for some. Check the board for more info on it. And if you have no appetite, find something you can hold down, or have a craving for and stick to it. With me, it was just cold popcicles for about a week. But it helped. Drink as much water as you can.

And personally, if you associated any pill taking with an activity, like i did.... sitting at the pc, drinking soda and popping pills. Try and stop that, whatever it may be for you, it will help break your cycle of addiction. And remember, the more days you put between you and that last pill, I promise, the better you will feel. Read some of the threads on this forum for encouragement. There are a LOT of people here who know exactly how you feel.

Keep posting!

hugs and prayers!
