I need all the help I can get I am hoping to switch to suboxone, maybe swithing to oxy for a week before once I get down to 30mg. Any help please.

I really would like some good advice about what I should be doing to come off  the methadone with less withdrawl, maybe some advice on how to safely switch to suboxone without the withdrawl too, I thank god for finding this site and all of you. My little girl starts kindergarden tomorrow and I am on unemployment so I think this maybe the right time to do this. Have a great day everyone

Why would you like to go onto Suboxone, DaleGirl? I ask because they're both extremely difficult to get off of & in my experience -- after the dose you've been on -- M'done folks don't generally do that well on Subs.
I live in your state & I was on a clinic here for 20yrs. I'm over 8 mos. clean thanks to MH. You can do this too with a slow taper. Please, research Subs carefully before you make that choice. It's a powerful, powerful opiate just like M'done. It's not a magic bullet.

Please, if you could give us a little background on your age & the amt. of time you were on M'done. Thanks! We're here.

Hey there! I am not familiar with MDone but I am 33 days off Suboxone. I was on it for almost 6 years but this has been my hardest withdrawl I've ever had. I'd rather detox from 30 Vics a day than go they Sub w/d again. I'm still not sleeping and my energy is coming back at a snails pace. I'm telling you this because it can be just as bad to detox from Sub or worse, than from MDone. At least for me it was. Just my personal experience w Sub. Good luck to you. I will keep you in my thoughts. Being clean of everything is a remarkable feeling. Keep on friend.

I have gone from methadone to suboxone and I did it very close to the way you are doing it.When i got down to 15mg of methadone I quit takinf the methadone and went about 36 hours without anything. When I started to feel really bad I began taking 3 hydrocodone every 6 hours for about a week then down to 2 for about a week....then at two I stopped for 24 hours before getting the suboxone. It was a bit rough at times but nowhere near the pain of the methadone withdrawals. If you've never taken the drug then you cannot understand the withdrawals at all. I've also detoxed from suboxone. I've done a 5 day detox(which I don't recommend) and I've done a VERY SLOW taper over a 10 month period of time and for two weeks  after finishing the subs I took 2 tramadol every 8  then I went to 1 every 6 hours then none. All I experienced was being weak and tired for a few days. I immediately threw myself into physical activity and pushed myself to the limit. I was back to pre-methadone status days after that...feeling good. If you work or if you don't have time to take off for at least 6 weeks...I would go the route I took. Methadone withdrawal last a long time.

Thanks for the advice. I am scared to withdraw from methadone, even tapering 5 a week I feel the effects, early awakening, a good thing is I can finally go to the bathroom after being so constipated for 2 years, which maybe from all the cal/zinc/mag I been taking. I wanted to switch to subs because I heard its easier to taper and way more convenient then going to a clinic everyday, my clinic will only give you a bottle evry 30 days and if you miss any appointments or you cant pee on command they revoke them, plus you have to attend a 2 hour takehome group for each bottle with a 5 limit, making it near impossible for a busy mommy/wife. I just thought this would be a good option since I know I need something to keep me from craving I know for me attending support groups was never enuff and I would go back to occasional use, which I know is dangerous. I guess my question is which is harder to detox from eventually. This methadone aint no picnic, switching to hydros is possible in between but I will have to buy them off someone I know. Switching maybe to much for me from meth to subs I mean. Thanks guys

What ncgirl01 suggested is a fantastic way to do it. I was on suboxone 4 years ago for about 8 months and I could not mentally take it anymore. It's been awhile, but I believe I taper down subs in about 4 to 5 months after the 8 month period. It is a very Weird drug.  It was pure hell and torture. If by any chance u have to go to ER, like for an accident or something, they cannot give u anything for pain. And u really need to tell what u r takeing. I went down so low to a mi- nute crumb. I mean a crumb. I was razoring it down. Because I had to work. My eyes messed up, among other things. Stayed off a few years, got on hydros, then took methadone to get off hydros. Now I am on 7.5 and at a stand still. Now I know what to do. Thank you so much ncgirl01. Excellent idea. But I will not get on subs. I will go to hydros, then to tramadol. The methadone is hard enough. This stuff is bad. Over the weekend I chipped off the.5. Got sick. Had to take the rest. Had to wait for it all to catch back up to stay at a leval pace. Just that little bit. Was hopeing to get to 5mg. Did not know how I was going to do it till now.

Well I am really starting to think the sub switch is a bad idea, if I got hurt I would be screwed, no thanks to that. I don't do well with pain especially physical, which is why most of us got where we are today. I completely forgot about that one. I am however going to continue tapering down as long as I can function. I say that 53mg when I used to be at 110mg just a bit shy of 6 months ago. I can get it down more I know it. So for now gonna put this idea of switching to subs on a hard hold. THanks everybody

Good idea! If u r having issues between each drop. Lengthen it out, taper it out for a longer period. Let ur body level out more and get use to each drop. I know u want off of it. So do I. Just remember to do what is best for u. This will not last forever. Take it slow......................It will be worth it. That way u can at least maintain somewhat and not suffer. Cause all of us have respondsibilities in life. I am really trying to keep my faith strong. My sleeping is off. So, I have early mornings alot. Know this; There Is Light At The End of The Tunnel, for us ALL!!!!!!!!!
If u can budget it; Try to take a good Krill Oil . Vit., C chewable, B complex chewable. D-3. Greens powder mix with berries; with apple juice. A good Whey Protein powder mix. This has saved me. Boosts me up. All this stuff  we r takeing, has literally has depleeted all of our nutrition out of our bodies. Look up the Thomas Recipe.
