The more you get up and move around the better you will feel. At this point you have to force yourself. Soak in the tub as that will help the achiness. Eat bland foods and make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids.
As for the meds, if you honestly are going to need them for migraines please have someone lock them up and dole them out. We dont do well being in charge of that. Hopefully your migraines will get better as time goes on.
In my experience, it can be done. I never abused my meds or had any trouble with them, but I stopped my pain management program in April because I wanted to restart my tolerance, and I wanted to not have to take the meds regularly anymore. I was on them for migraines, and back and neck problems.
Now I take norco only when I need it, I'm not chained to it, and my tolerance is a lot lower.
Now...if you have trouble abusing/misusing them.. I honestly don't know if it's possible. It doesn't seem possible, unless you have your husband or a trusted family member or friend keep them and give them to you ONLY if the migraines get out of control...but if you have no trouble taking them as directed, then it should work -it's worked for me. none of the abortive meds ever worked for my migraines either, and we've been trying for over 10 years every med in the book, so I can relate to that.
Yes I have tried Imitrex and every other preventative and reactive Medicine out there it's just a crap shoot if it will work. The pain gets so bad black out and end up in the er or hospitalized. I have to keep a few around in case I get hit with one.
Hi! You are doing great!! It gets better everyday. Have you tried Imitrex? I suffer from killer migraines and it helps me a lot, its otc, cheap and non-narcotic. Give it a try. Just curious, do you still have the Percs? If you do, you should flush them, it's better to stay away from temptation, our mind is always looking for a good excuse. You might think, just one pill won't hurt...it will, trust me on this. Stay strong you are doing great!
Thanks littlebit! I was really proud of myself. I was tempted but didn't!! My problem is that I get severe severe migraines where I will need pain medication but I want to get back to baseline of not using it everyday and only when needed for severe pain. Can that be done?
you made it to the function w/o using! Wonderful. Go take a hot bath or shower! It will help the legs a bit.
When all is said and done, you will be able to be there for your kids even more. I always hated that my life ran around my taking another pill, not my daughter. We have a second chance. During wd I just told myself I an going through this for my kids, they deserve it.
