Yes, I too was scared to death to even find a doctor who prescribes Sub but because people on this site reassured me, I finally made the appointment today- - -- - I will see the Sub doctor on Saturday. His staff told me to bring $200 bucks CASH --- rather funny really because they told me this at least 3 or 4 times CASH. Other's have told me that these doctors are used to dealing with addicted people and do not want to know your life story or where you got the pills. That really put my mind at ease so I am now ready to go in. In addition to the $200 fee the doctor gives a prescription for the Sub that I will take to a pharmacy to have filled. One person just got some yesterday and the cost was about $360 dollars for 60 8 mg tablets. She couldn't afford that so only had the pharmacy give her half of the script. So, it looks fairly reasonable - and I will take the plunge. I have already cut my dose in half over the last 2 weeks going from 140 mg of Oxycontin and Oxycodone (Percocet) to now taking no Oxycontin and only 75 mg of Percocet. I have heard so many on the site talk about becoming addicted to the Sub so I will only use enough to get me off in LESS than 21 days. I have a good knowledge of things like 'half life' and what that means so I am also not going to start at the recommended dose of 8mg twice a day -- - instead I will take from 2 to 4 and then immediately start down from there ---- O.K. just wanted you to know that your weren't alone in what you are attempting - -- Go for it - --- find a doctor if you need to by going to the web. there are lots of places to find a doctor who can prescribe the sub and if you choose you really don't have to tell your doctor - ---- I agree with seeksolice about telling your doctor - BUT, if it is a dealbreaker, then just find one who can write the script and go and get it. This is a really good thing - -- anything is that helps us to get off this stuff without those horrible W/D's. Best to you
You have to have a special license in order to prescribe Suboxone. Don't let that deter you from telling your doctor though- I found out that my life long family doctor is actually licensed to prescribe Sub (I never would have thought).
I am familiar with the anxiety regarding telling your doctor- it took me months to work up the nerve. But, I did, and she was VERY understanding, to put it mildly. They deal with addicts frequently- doctors are always glad when they see a proactive patient that is willing to step up to the plate and take control of their health.
Telling your doctor will be a positive thing, and will hopefully increase your motivation to get clean. Just talking to them can put your mind at ease because you know that someone is there to help you out.
