I applaud your desire to be clean. There are regulars here that have quit from higher levels of Suboxone. I'm sending my best wishes for your efforts.
I posted some Suboxone info for NJacklyn a day or so ago. I think it would be helpful to read that.
I agonize a lot when I read a story like yours. I want to be supportive, and I will be. I just worry that you are biting off a pretty big chunk of sobriety in one bite. I don't think working as a nurse while quitting an 8mg/day Suboxone habit is doable.
Is it practical to do a taper and keep working? Absolutely! I found the taper to be pretty easy. I could never do it with my DOCs. Never had the discipline, but subs were different. My doc and I would talk about what I wanted to accomplish. He would write the script to meet that goal. I knew that if I took too much I'd be short. That was usually enough motivation to be successful; not perfect, I'd screw up and take a little extra sometimes but I always adjusted my remaining doses. When you realize that any extra is coming from your future it's easier to be disciplined.
Please go read my post to NJacklyn. It will help you understand just how much Suboxone is in your system and how that compares to other opiates.
And feel free to ask any questions. I'll help you no matter what path you take towards sobriety
Hi I agree with CIK tapering down would help this alot....coming off 8mg is going to be ruff you wont feel it for a few days but when you do it is going to hit you like a bus....we will support you how ever you do this and we have had member jump from higher doses keep posting for support.................Gnarly..............
Welcome to the forum~
Is it YOUR choice to not taper down from 8 mg?
I have minimal experience with subs.....only on them 28 days but since you don't want horror stories, I won't share mine with you....LOL
I am just curious if NOT tapering down lower is your choice and if, thru all the reading you say you've done, that you haven't read how much better it would be if you DID taper your dose before you jump at 8 mg.
