I didnt have much luck at all with sub for pain.......but I was also not an exceptionally good patient. May have even exceeded the ceiling for effective sub thereapy when taking too many other narcotics........
Hi Phil,
In reference to your question about Suboxone's effectiveness in treating pain, I've got to say that for me at least, Suboxone didn't help with pain very much at all. Supposedly one of the uses of Suboxone is treatment of pain, but if you have severe pain, you'll probably find that the Suboxone won't help much if at all.
That being said, if you are going to be on a maintenance medication, Suboxone IMO is a much better choice than Methadone simply because with Suboxone I was able to think clearly, make good decisions, etc. There are still plenty of downsides to Suboxone though (lack of sex drive being a big one for me), but if you are in a situation where you just want to get control of your life back, it's a great choice.
If you have been on much meth at all for 8 years your receptors are so down regulated that it may be awhile before sub is effective for the pain. Thats the problem with it working for me for pain. Wasnt the subs fault - - - I was too high!
