Suboxone

Hey All.

I take suboxone and thank having this product created primarily for those of us who we're addicted to pain meds. One down side for me is the fact I experience constipation. Sorry to bring it up. However, I've been thinking about doing a colon cleanse and wondered if anyone else has tried it. Also any helpful products or suggestions on getting this annoying problem moving in the right direction. Thanks this is my first post on the site and I hope the best for all of the people here. Keep truck - n -

Thanks

Yeah down here its the opposite... it seems the longer they keep people on it the more likely they won't taper down properly or use during treatment. And since the chance of withdrawals increase with the time spent on the med I figured it was best to just use it for detox only.

FLaddict that's awesome 4 months clean-!!! The suboxone treatment Doctors around here in Maine recommend a year or more on the program which includes group meetings, personal work with counselors and attending meetings around the area. I think it's awesome how you used the suboxone treatment to start you on your way to clean living. Congrats to you FLaddict-!!! Keep up the great work.

Peace

I understand precipitated withdrawals from my first dosage of suboxone. My Doc now is sorry for putting me on suboxone that day knowing I had some percosets the day before. He said it was for my safety (not buying more percs) and maybe it was but I was wicked sick for about two days and it took almost two weeks for me until I was like Hey I feel normal. I was like what the blank did I do that for? I hated suboxone and now I respect suboxone. Part of keeping sober is remembering how sick I got. I have never ever been that sick before and don't plan to get myself into that sickness again. It's best to start suboxone as clean as possible. One of pals had not taken his percosets for three weeks before starting on suboxone and he said after his first dose WOW I FEEL GREAT-!!! It's all about how clean you start the very positive suboxone life changing program. Thanks for your post. Peace and Keep Truckin-!!!

I am also a sub patient.  I know many people on here advocate just taking it to get through w/d's but for me w/d's were the easy part.  The mental w/d's and the constant urges were destroying my life.  Sub hasn't been a slam dunk but it's given me hope, support and my mental health back.  I don't know how long I'll be on it but even if I decide to take it forever, I view it as a form of an anti depressant and don't see anything wrong with long time use.  It's much better than suicide or relapse.

I am no longer on Suboxone.. I took it for a  10 day outpatient detox in june to get off vicodin and percset.  I did a large amount of research on sub prior to taking it.. I have posted a suboxone FAQ here that you may find interesting.. you should check it out..

I have been off of all pain pills for 4 months.. so if you need any help or have questions about stopping sub let me know.

i switched from a 20mg methadone habit to suboxone, i waited 5 full days waiting for the withdrawals to finally start before i took my first dose of sub...and the 5 days was not long enough...i was put into immediate precipitated withdrawals...but everyone is different...and fladdict is right..i would make sure you were down to the 20mgs of methadone for at least a month...but it still wont be easy...it took me 5 weeks to get the full benefits from the sub, you have to be committed to this...its really not as easy as alot of people say...its still hard work, and no miracle pill, although now i am so very grateful for this medicine, it has saved my life...

That's correct fladdict 20mg is the magic number. Hey thanks for your help. You sound like you understand and know some facts about suboxone. Just wondering how long have you been on suboxone? I am tapering down from 6mg to 4mg this week and I have been doing the program for 10 months. Thanks for your help fladdict. I'm not an expert but just a person learning from going to group suboxone meetings, attending addiction counseling, and reading suboxone material from a fairly limited pool of information. I hope we can trade information from time to time.Talk later and have a great week.

Victoria...  just to let you know. you have to taper down to 20mg of methadone or less for several weeks prior to making the switch to Suboxone.

Hi and sorry it's taken me some time to get back to you. I have been on suboxone for 10 months now and for me it's been a life savor. I've also taken methadone back in the days when I was out of oxy's, percs, or vics and the methadone kept me from being sick but it also kept me if I had enough pretty high. The one thing about suboxone is that most people will tell you that you don't get high and you can't get high. It's a fact that people on the street can get a high and maybe you could also but that would be an early experience with the suboxone. The amazing thing about suboxone is that the urge to use is gone in the physical way (withdraw pain free) but the mental aspects one must fight by doing the list of things that help you keep you sober. There is so much more to tell you but first you must understand a few things. 1) you need to taper of the methodone and I'll find you the exact number you need to get to before going on suboxone. 2) you need to be off of the methodone for three days before taking suboxone. These two points are facts. 3) you need to want to be free from the high of the drug. Thats my fact. My head is clean and clear with suboxone and it was very high and kind of like a way stoned feeling on methadone. I broke my foot high on methadone and walked like a mile to the my car no problem. ANyway I have more information for you. It's time for bed for me. Oh yeah don't be scared I think suboxone is something you really need to think about in fact I think it's a sign of you wanting to take the next real step to being sober. Suboxone gives us a chance to be free. Someday soon the suboxone will be a memory a memory thats part of my heeling from drug addiction. OK bed time.

I was wondering if you could give me more 1st hand info on Suboxone.  I have been on 100mgs of methadone for 7 months and would like to switch to Suboxone, but I am soooooo...scared!  Honestly, how does it make you feel once you are established on it? I still get a "nice and inspiring" feeling from the methadone which keeps me from getting  refills of oxy's.  The only reason I want to change is the inconveinence of methadone.  Any info would be great!

Thanks FLaddict. I appreciate your wisdom on the subject. I'll go purchase some calcium magnesium and try that aloe vera juice as well if I can find that. Health food stores around here just might have it.

I didn't know that about the colon kits stripping the good bacteria out. I just have heard some very positive things such as feeling wonderful and renewed. I will now do some more research. Thanks again. Keep Cool.

stay away from the colon cleansing kits, they strip the good bacteria from the intestines.
