Dihydrocodeine is a synthetic opioid analgesic used to treat postoperative pain and severe breathlessness. It can also be used as an antitussive. Dihydrocodeine is approximately twice as potent as codeine, although the general effects are similar.

Half life is how long it takes for the body to eliminate half your last dose. It's approx 63 hrs with subs, it's 12 hrs with condiene. Therefore, it takes 21 days to have a blood serum lower than 1% with subs and about 3 days for Codiene. If you can taper of subs fast, you won't have an accumulation of bupe in your system and it will slow down ooiate detox. I think it will decrease symptoms in short term use, but sub shoukd be reserved for the most extreme cases. If you can taper the condiene and quit, I think that would be the fastest way to do it. Like I mentioned, if you feel you need time to build aftercare is the only reason I would even consider subs. You sound experienced, this isn't your first rodeo. You seem to end up on SOMETHING, I so get that. If you are truly ready, then you know what you have to do. You do whatever it takes. What kind of support do you have for after the physical withdrawal passes? While still using, we feel so convinced we won't ever go back, if we can just get through detox. Well, I tested that and there are many testimonies that it takes more than good intentions and willpower. That to me is your most important decision right now. What aftercare will work for you?

I am currently working to take no opiates . I don't care for a high off anything want to b clean again I don't no if taking 1 2mg sube is worse than takin 480mg of dihdrocodiene every day I no how addictive subutex can b as I was on them also for 4 years and just went cold turkey with diazapam and buscopan and that I think was worse that meth for wat I can remember of it had a really bad 3 weeks I am just scared that I might b making a big mistake by not taking my dihdrocodiene and taking subutex again

Let me preface this by saying MY OPINION ONLY!
Don't bother with 2mg of subs.  Just continue going through the w/d without the sub.  It will make you feel better, temporarily, but it too will wear off (just like all of the other drugs we love :)

1mg of bupe is similar in receptor coverage to 40mgs of morphine or 60mgs of hydrocodone, ie. vicodin or norco. Therefore, Codiene 650mgs is approx equal to 2 mgs of subs. It's effect is very different than other opioids, so these numbers are approximates stated in general, sub is a partial agonist and 2mgs is likely higher dose than you need, depending on your goals. For pain relief, sub is effective, but it doesn't create the same high that distracts one from the residual pain, in my experience. As far as getting off sub, I would say the withdrawal is not as bad as methadone, but far worse than all the other fast acting opiates and opioids. It possibly has the longest withdrawal, due to it's half life. Are you needing indefinite time on painkillers or are you working toward being med free? I am not certain of your goals here, with more info, we would be glad to try to help.

Hi & Welcome,

Have you considered taking nothing at all? From the sounds of it you will be trading one drug for another and that will not work out in the long run. Subutex/Suboxone is a complete program..it is NOT a miracle pill. So if you won't be doing it properly through a certified physician then what would be the point? Many here have come off of the pills and gone on without the use of maintenance drugs. If you think that may be an option for you let us know. We can support you and help you through this.
