ULTRAM/TRAMADOL

I am reading alot about others being addicted to tramadol aka Ultram. I am wondering if this drug also gives the same "euphoric high" that like hydros and oxy's do? Anyone know... I have never taken oc's or tramadol and I am wondering how it makes you feel and if it is effective for pain management?

Thanks avis... I am very reluctant to take any medication these days and hearing about the risk of seizures scares me to death! I appreciate the info...

this is the drug insert info on the drug maybe you could show it to your doctor

Tramadol should never be given to another person, especially someone who has a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medication in a secure place where others cannot get to it. Tramadol can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert. Do not stop using tramadol suddenly, or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, sweating, nausea, diarrhea, tremors, chills, hallucinations, trouble sleeping, or breathing problems. Talk to your doctor about how to avoid withdrawal symptoms when stopping the medication. Do not crush the tramadol tablet. This medicine is for oral (by mouth) use only. Powder from a crushed tablet should not be inhaled or diluted with liquid and injected into the body. Using this medicine

Let me start by saying that you do not have any right to judge why I am asking a question. I have also been a member of this forum for quite a while and also a recovering addict. Not that it is any of your business, my doctor has given me a script for 30 / 50mg Ultram for post surgical pain and has assured me that it is NOT a narcotic and NON addictive. However... being a member of this forum and reading alot about addiction to Ultram I knew there was more to it. I am having trouble with pain and was unsure whether or not to fill the script and take as directed or to not even go there. I need the med for pain, but, if it offers the "euphoric high" I know I will most likely become addicted. Thank you for your wonderful comment and unless you know anything about someone else, maybe you should just not comment at all!

It highly addicting ,not for use for people addicted to narcotics .It is hell to come off of far worse then most other  narcotics .If you abuse then there is a very real risk of having seizures .So I guess that does not make it a good choice for pain management . There are tons of posts on her about tramdol addiction if you put tramdol in search you can read them.
