Hello everyone.  I am a sibling of a crack addict and to make matters worse he is also a parapalegic. He uses his handicap to extend his drug credit.  My mom is spending all she has to sustain his habit but it is wearing her down.  I am a strong believer in God and I know that HE has people out there who has gone through what our family is going through and beat it. So will anyone give me some advice to give to my mom to get her to allow some tough love to make him come around or any other advice to help my brother come to himself and seek help.

Hi.  I'm new to this site.  I took one whole day at work and read and read and read.  This helped me understand addiction and helped me understand what I was about to go through.  I have been using vicodin for approx. 8 years anywhere from 2-4 a day.  Not much I thought in comparison to some posts I've read.  Well I quickly learned that addiction is addiction and withdrawls are withdrawls.  I never thought this would happen to me.  Me who said I hate pills and would never get addicted to pills.  I've called people pill heads then I was one myself. This site helped me out tremdously.  I'm on day 14 cold turkey (well one on the first day, my last one), none since.  I couldn't believe how crappy I felt, and still kinda do.  I tried a lot of peoples suggestions and they all seemed to help.  This is my first post, but hopefully not my last.  I feel probably 85% human today, so to everybody out there sick of lying and sick of spending piles of money on felonies.....give it a try.  Life gets better.  I feel better about myself because I don't have to lie and make deals with the devil anymore.  I still crave and dream about vicodin, isn't that crazy!  I have got to be careful, I've told many of the people I buy them from that I quit and not to come around or call anymore.  That will also help.  Thanks to everybody on this site, everybody who has had the courage to admit the problem.  That is the first and hardest thing I ever did, admitting the problem.  Miigwetch (thank you) to all of you.

I've taken Vicodin (2p/day - evening only) for 10 years - due to chronic pain from 4 back surgeries.  Recently, I started experiencing symptoms similar to withdrawal (dizzy, fuzzy head, weakness - no diarrhea).  I tried gradually reducing dosage - first to 1 1/2 then to 1 p/day; however, symptoms persist.  It seems odd I would experience withdrawal type symptoms while maintaining the same dosage I have for years. Is there a regimen for tapering off that I should be following or are other issues potentially at play?
